When you work, are you more like a tortoise (slow and steady, lots of stamina) or a hare (fast in bursts, but requiring more breaks)?

Not slow and steady, but I don't really take breaks either. I basically strap in in the morning and don't move far from my seat until I leave.

I work quickly with no breaks. But I usually only have 4-6 hour shifts.

I get bursts of energy. During those bursts, I'm very focused and can practically move mountains. Then I need a short break before starting all over again.

Quality over quantity for most of the time, but I guess it depends. Not many breaks either way..

I'm more like an ass. I can do all the work no problem I'm just lazy and hard headed.

Neither, working for the railroad there's only one speed. Full throttle all day. Maybe taking a 30 min lunch in a 10 hour day.

I like this analogy. Some days the tortoise, some days the hare.

I work in the kitchen at a nursing home, and work never flows at a constant pace. I'm either busting my butt to get stuff done, or I'm sitting on my butt with nothing to do. There's never a happy medium.

Definitely a mixture of the 2. I don't take a lot of breaks but I'm not too slow either.

There should be a third answer on this one. I want to finish my work as fast as possible. I feel like once I get a break I end up slowing down altogether. So I prefer just to work all day through. Honestly

I'm like a combo of the 2. I work really fast and really accurate but I don't really need a lot of breaks

It wasn't too bad. I have gotten use to working long shift. I think of myself more as a machine, than a tortoise.

In the morning I'm a turtle, but once I get some coffee in me I turn into a hare. Once u get momentum I usually work through the day. Coffee is just a kickstart.

You're usually legally allowed a 10 minute break if you work up to six hours, and a lunch after 6 hours. You should check on that.

kcam1390
07/01/13 1:22 pm

Not if you are basically required to waive your break every time you punch in .. And even if you don't you're still not getting one most likely. Ever work in a restaurant?

Hare. Usually I will work about 40-45 minutes in a burst, take a 15-20 min unwind, and then dive back in for another burst until my job is done. Usually I get work done early & have time for free training from my office, currently doing photoshop

When I still worked I hated taking breaks. Too much trouble, too much opportunity for error, too much fun missed while away. I'd never have taken a break if they didn't make me.
