My family is always at our condo at the beach for the week of the fourth:) my dad grills pork steaks. My cousins, family friends, and grandparents are here too. It's great! We watch fireworks on the beach at night:)
Standing guard over my place with a bucket and a hose since by then it won't have rained for a week and will be way too dry to be setting off bottle rockets and mortars. But the neighbors will anyway.
On the show some guy got up and personal with an opening on Coleman Camp stove. He sort of had to carry the stove in front of him. Two of the attendants actually passed out.
One of my friends is a nurse instructor. She said there's some pretty good stories she could tell, a few lightbulb ones.
He did the inserting on this one though.
I am not jealous of that, I will be throwing a pool party but I've been worried about what to make for days and I finally decided so I can breath freely again!
Very nice - I'm going to tuck that piece of info away for future reference. You'll be busy - but I bet it will be fun. Will there be fireworks over the water?
Going to some good friends house In WV. Partly because they are an absolute blast to be around and because one of them is not in good health. Thursday morning couldn't possibly get here quick enough.
I will be hosting a pool party on Thursday and I am very excited about it but I have been freaking out over what to serve. Obviously I'm going to do a barbecue but I don't know if I should do drum-sticks or beef kebabs and I also need to decide what
Even though we do chicken and tri tip (which is a beef roast - I know they don't have it in the whole country by that name) - I don't do the cooking. If I were cooking for a pool party I would do hotdogs and hamburgers with Mac salad and chips/dip
I was thinking of making this South African salad with black beans, hearts of palm, red onion, cilantro, cherry tomatoes (even though I hate raw tomatoes) with lime and olive oil. I make an awesome potato salad with lemon and olive oil instead of
I could always just do themed drinks and desserts and just keep the actual meal part normal, right? I'm probably worrying over nothing because I think I'm just going to make exactly what I just described, and I should just do both chicken and beef
Corn chips and guacamole perhaps? Ooh or I could do some sort of salad with beets, avocados, and goat cheese. Ok I think I have decided on a menu finally!
Honey themed drinks sound great - and you can't go wrong with chicken and beef - like I said - that's what we do. The salad sounds really good and interesting - like something people didn't have last night for dinner - you know???
Haha exactly! I like to do the food a little differently from the norm so that it stands out and so everybody can try new things without being too risky. Thanks for talking me through this, I've been freaking out over what to serve all weekend
Niz, I love party food that you can grab a nibble in passing. A favorite simple "toothpick" dessert: pile on a plate a box of frozen mini cream puffs & a jar of drained maraschino cherries. Drizzle some of the juice over it and dark chocolate syrup.
I know but I'm not good at making little foods, I figure I'll just set up a buffet type of situation and everybody can eat either outside around the pool, I have plenty of tables, or go inside to the air conditioning.
And that sounds yummy!
Tops - your lucky - we live in the tree so it's usually cooler - but this heat wave is effecting us - its 98 right now - so it is probably 105 down town
The forth us my husband's birthday so we have a big BBQ - about 50 people - chicken, tri tip, about 20 different salads, guitars, and fireworks - lots of fun
