On what day in July of 1776 did the Founding Fathers declare independence from Britain?
Woo hoo! I remember SOMETHING from history class
Definitely the 2nd
I said the 2nd, but only because you wouldn't have asked the question if it was the 4th.
They declared independence on the 2nd, the signed the paper on the 4th
That depends on the definition of "declare." They voted unanimously on 7/2; the document was adopted on 7/4. After that it was published & distributed. I have no idea when news reached England. The document wasn't signed until later. I voted 7/2.
It was declared on July 2, when all the people involved were in independence hall in Philadelphia. It was printed on July 4. This according to David McCollough on 60 Minutes tonight.
Wikipedia says the Continental Congress voted to declare independence on 7/2 (the simple answer, assuming accuracy), the text of the document was ratified 7/4. The initial printing of the document (the Dunlap broadside) was done the night of 7/4.
Was it even really in July - I mean we're pretty sure Jesus wasn't really born in December so...
I'm guessing the 4th? If not ive been lied to my whole life...
Oh honey - if this is the only thing you've been lied to about - your doing well
Oh trust me....its not :-/
Awe! )': ❤ :*
Its ok :) :*
July 2nd. The document was simply dated, "July 4th, 1776."
