Does your extended family get together for regular family reunions(I.e. every year, every other year, every five years)?
On my mom's side, yes. I have only ever met my father's father and I haven't seen him in ten years.
When we were younger we did, every year we would go to an amusement park, the kids playing and spending money while the "older" relatives argued, played cards and ate KFC But, not anymore, just a lot of get togethers, football, BBQ's and beverages.
They all live in Europe between London and Paris so ever since I was 4 years old,we have spent every summer in the south of France so that we can actually be a family for at least a couple of months or weeks. My neighbors are my uncles and aunts and
Cousins and I love it! We have an amazing relationship and we are super close and rarely fight. However, I doubt that we would be so close if we lived physically closer throughout the rest of the year. I they were my neighbors on a daily basis then
Then I doubt that we would best close. On the other hand, I would love to be able to have Sunday dinner and birthdays and whatnot on a regular basis with my family but it is what it is and I do love to travel to Europe so it works for us I guess
That's so awesome! What a great reason to go to Europe too!
I just say "oh I need to go visit one of my grandmas, time to get a ticket!" I love it, it is so much fun, I love being with my family,I love the culture, food, SHOPPING, it's all great! Ad the south of France is incredible, you should go some day
If you ever want to visit, you can stay at my house :)
I'm too rusty, so app time. J'ai vraiment aimé le sud de la France. Actually, most of France. The people are Soo nice, friendly & hospitable. Paris, the art & architecture is beautiful. The Parisians however, can "Prendre un acte de vol !"
Hahah yeah they can! I Argo, the south of France is amazing and I never get bored of going
On my moms side, I have like fourth cousins that I see a few times a year. They are related to my great great aunt that is really close to my grandfather.
I see my first cousins and aunt/uncle at least once a week. We vacation yearly with them.
In addition to that we also have multiple reunions with all sorts of family from my moms mom side and my moms dads side.
We met a lot of family through ancestry.com actually. We have become fb friends with a lot of them. One "cousin" drove all the
way from Illinois to meet us and some other family down here in Alabama.
Wow cool! I never see my extended extended family, first cousins is as far as I go.
Almost all of my moms side of the family lives within an hour of where we live, so we have stayed close! :)
Oh that's awesome! My family is all over the east coast, with a couple Californians thrown into the mix :) I bet it's so nice to everyone so close!
It really is! My dads family is a different story though, so I do understand having family spread out!
Wow! That's awesome! I can't imagine being able to see my cousins every week too!
Emily, it is really nice :) we go to the same church, so I know I'll at least see them every Sunday. My nana and pop as well.
One of my cousins is only a year younger than me, so we have always been good friends.
One of my cousins is my best friend too and she lives 4.5 hours away...I'm jealous!
Ah I'm sorry! At least y'all can still be such good friends despite the distance!
Exactly! Thank the lord for Skype :)
Sadly. :( I don't like my extended family. They just annoy me. And I have to travel to CT and its a hassle. Ugh.
CT isn't that far from Boston, is it?
I'm sorry you feel that way.
Ha, all you foreigners only care about Boston. The entire state is not Boston. No I live in central mass. It takes 1 hour to 1 hour and 25. They live in southern CT so it's longer.
An hour and a half is NOTHING. If you came to visit me it would take like 9 or 10 hours. And yeah, I do only care about Boston.
It's not their fault, em. I just don't like talking to them, or really any of my extended family. It's not them, it's me.
I don't like long car rides. And are you implying you want me to visit?!
Yeah! Haha wouldn't that be so fun pipes?? And I hate long car rides too. We went on tons of family road trips when I was little. To Canada. Ugh.
To Canada from where though? It would be very very fun. Except you can slap me. Which isn't fun. Though I'd love to visit dc again. Maybe Ill drop by as a surprise. Especially since I stalk you and know where you live.
Where in Connecticut?
From here! We stopped in Boston on the way. And I wouldn't slap you unless you have me a reason to! Actually I probably wouldn't anyway. And that is the creepiest thing I've ever heard...
My grandparents live there, niz, all in southern CT. My mom is from Norwich and my grandpa lives there on a lake house. My grandma lives in a town near by called east Lyme.
I thought you moved to dc rlands, most people don't grow up in dc. Suck to go to school there. Well, there arent too many homes or apartments. Eventually I'll find ya. Muahahahahaha. Do you have any kids? If you don't mind me asking.
Well right outside DC. Going to school in the city is not good, you're right. And why do you want to know if I have kids? I have 8 sons by the way. Some in their 20s and some in their 30s.
Hahaha that's a total lie. I'm not that old pipes...I don't have any kids. Did you think that I did?
No, I had doubts. You're probably in your 20s or 30s. Have a mr. Rlands?
Is there a Mr. Rlands? Haha no :) what is this, an interrogation?
What's wrong with trying learn something about a virtual friend?
Haha nothing! Go ahead! Any more questions? I'm not guaranteeing any answers though.
Age, social security number, credit card number, address, phone number, name, family names, family locations, boyfriend. You can answer any one of these. In no particular order.
Hmm well as much as I would love to answer all of those, I'll just do one: family location. Some of my family's in Boston, which is why I only care about Boston :)
And it's our only known city or town.
Well what about Cambridge? Amherst? Cape Cod? Concord? Lowell? Nantucket? Medford?
Well yes, and don't forget Plymouth.
Oh right! How could I have forgotten! The pilgrims must hate me now...
They are rolling over in their graves. And forgot Salem. The witches hate you too.
Aw man pipes what am I gonna do?!
Dunk them in the river and see if they float??
Dunk the witches in the river? Pipes how brave do you think I am?! Those witches are witches!!
Well, either they sink and they are human but they drown. Or they float and then get burned, pick your poison.
How bout I just run...
Sure, be a girl.
"Help me sink the witches pipes because you're a guy and I'm just a lonely weak girl that can't help herself!" -said no rlands ever
Exactly. I'm only running this time because they're frickin witches.
They aren't real. Of anyone you'd know that. You like history no?
Oh heavens you two! Haha
We do this a lot. This is pretty small. Weve had worse. Haha. But ya, I gotta go to bed. So, I'll see you tomorrow rlands for our scheduled talking time. I can not wait. ;)
That is exactly what the witches want you to think! Haha night pipes
And sorry for filling up your notifications em :)
Haha no problem :)
Its never scheduled.
Do you at least see them every few years?
Not my extended family. Everyone in town sees each other almost daily.
We used to, but now that my great-grandpa and his brothers have passed away, we don't get together much anymore. It was cool to see my 4th and 5th cousins every year while I was growing up though.
Oh wow, that really is extended family. Ours is just first cousins mainly. Do you see your first cousins much at least?
Not so much now that I'm in Arizona, but my cousins on my dad's side are really close and when I lived back home we'd see each other at least every couple of months. One of them, who's 7 years older, is like a sister to me, and we talk every night.
Every Christmas we have a "Cousins Party" too... no parents, no kids, just our generation of 20-somethings and 30-somethings (and now a 40-something) getting together to drink and play games together.
That's awesome! We just have out "cousin party" after the kids and older adults go to bed every night of our family reunion week ☺
My family lives all over the U.S. I rarely see any of them. When there is an opportunity for all of us to get together we certainly do. Could be 2 years, or maybe 5 years or more. I never know when the next time will come around.
That good you get together when you can! Our family is kind of spread out, but we just try to meet in the middle every two years.
We have family reunions every couple of years. I love going to them; they're so fun. Especially when we have them on the beach :)
Nice! We go to the same place every year, though I think it'd be nice to go different places every year
We get together in Maryland at a park and eat a crazy amount of blue crabs. I really miss it.
Do you guys not do it anymore? Or just not very often?
It still goes on annually, it's just really hard for me to make it.
Yeah, Colorado to Maryland is a bit rough.
On my dad's side, we gather at Christmas and usually two-three other times during the year. It's excruciating. On my mom's side, we gather once every summer and once at Christmas. That side's much more fun.
Well at least your mom's side is fun! My family is crazy and full if drama, but it's still pretty fun for the most part
My Dad's side once a year. My mom's side never.
Yeah. We're the same way. My mom's side is really small but we barely ever see them
EMILY they traded Bolland to the Leafs!
Yeah. Just saw that. That sucks. Not to mention the Canes trade earlier. I haven't been too thrilled with this draft.
Yeah, I can see where they were going with the McBain trade though. Idk about Bolland though. Is he old? Or is it a salary cap thing? I don't know much about him.
Mid/late 20s. I'm sure it was for salary cap
Makes sense. The cap decrease is hitting everyone hates
*hard. Lots of trades going on this year.
Oh yeah. Lots of trades!
Hawks made another trade. Frolik. Boo!
They're totally clearing out their cap today. Wow.
Caps just picked up a trade...3 draft picks for Sanford? I'll have to research that one...
Hopefully that's it for the day... But we'll see...
Our family gets together every two years. Which basically consists of lots of drinking, lots of eating, playing cards, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, and more drinking. Our reunion is this upcoming week ☺
Aw I'm sure it's not thattt bad! Is it?
Thanksgiving and Memorial Day every year.
That's nice! Is it a big group getting together?
Yes! The family is split between 2 states. Each year, we all meet in Phoenix at my sisters house. Lots of fun:)
That's awesome! Especially that you guys are all pretty close together! Our family's spread out over most of the eastern US and one loner in CA
