It's for their own good.Morality is imposed because we do have to live amongst others. The acts deemed immoral cause negativity It's a hard enough to like each other now.Everything you do impacts everyone else in all ways. Believe it or ignore it.
You choose to ignore your presences, other's endure it. Good or indifferent you still leave traces. That phrase "leave no trace" when you leave. Does that apply to you? Can you really do that?
We all do this. It's human nature. Who is to say that polygamy, racism, or murder is morally wrong? These actions are doubtlessly considered morally right by some.
Imposing morality on immoral people based on standards set by the majority keeps us from burning the immoral's at the stake. Who wants to clean up that mess?
I vote for the least restrictive option. That is, the morally neutral route.
If there's an amendment banning gay marriage on the ballot and I vote against I'm not pushing my moral on others because it doesn't force them to do anything.
@Rebel, Intellectual honesty check here: What if murder laws were not on the books, and most people saw nothing wrong with killing each other.
Would you vote to outlaw murder?
Yes, or no?
Pinky, are you saying that in some instances your morals are either right or wrong? Like as if to say some things are absolute truth whether you think so or not?
I'm just making sure I am understanding what you're saying.
