Do you think "money" as a whole has a more positive or negative effect on society and the world?
Seriously, think of how messed up and crazy life would be without money. International trade, large transactions...they would be insane without money. Not to mention just everyday transactions for gum or batteries or what have you
Having fiat money makes everything so much simpler
Positive. People blame trucks and SUV's for their emissions as it is, imagine if they were all toting trailers full of goods and livestock to barter.
It's just a vehicle to avoid dragging all your stuff around for barter every time you need something. It has no effect or influence on society, but not needing to drag around trade goods everywhere you go is a plus.
On the whole, yes. It's made different societies interact through trade. If early man couldn't barter items directly, they used "Thallers" to purchase what they needed from a third party/tribe. I sometimes try to imagine a world without $. Hard to do
People are way too concerned and obsessive about money.
Money is a neutral energy exchange.
Positive of course. Commerce is difficult without it. Bartering is the alternative.
