Would you rather live in an urban area or a rural area and why
Rural just because I hate The City
Urban. Everything is there, and I prefer the crush of people to the opposite.
The only thing I hate in cities is light pollution.
Someone mentioned privacy as a plus for rural but in my experience it's much easier to have it in the city where you can easily blend into a crowd and no one knows you.
I don't like big cities. I worked in NYC for a short time and just hated everything about it. I'm a suburbs girl and will always be one.
Rural, I like my privacy and I hunt.
Urban because I hate the waste of time that is sitting in my car to go anywhere. And the gas involved. Just put me downtown in a population center of about 5K-10K people and I'm good. Much bigger than that, and I have to deal with the waste of time that is sitting in traffic.
We used to live about five miles outside the state capital, and those five miles added half a gallon of gas to get to the nearest grocery (or anywhere, for that matter) and back. Those five miles added 25 minutes to every trip out and back. When we moved, we realized how much gas we save now because to the grocery store and back home - THREE times - is still a shorter distance than just getting to the nearest grocery from our old place. It's not as walkable as I'd like, but it's way better than it was. For that, I'm so grateful and happy.
Because I don't drive.
