I need names, that are unique but not too long and strange. If you're feeling awesome, let me know some cool names, their meaning, what gender they are specific to, and what you would expect a person with that name to be like. Please :)
Maeve. Casey. Betsey. Augusten. Sailor. No ideas on meanings, but I love them.
Just realized you want ideas...Maeve = sassy, intelligent, Casey = unisex but I think sensitive either way, Betsey = fun and girlie but down to earth, Augusten = brooding and handsome, Sailor = female, head in the clouds, dreamer.
I knew a girl named Lucky (no, that's not a typo) I won't tell you her last name but it was one of those names that make you look at the parents and ask: you just had to do that, didn't you?
Anaïs. (Ah nah ee ss) emphasis on ï.
Maïté means loved. (I think) pronounced mah ee tay
Oops. Punctuation mixup. I think it means loved. It's definitely pronounced like that with emphasis on the first syllable.
Kim Kardashian’s Baby "North West"
I think that's horrible but it's not my kid.
My sister was going to name her child Luna, if it was a girl. I liked the idea. I don't know the origin, but I presume it's to do with the moon.
It makes me think of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. I would expect a Luna to be unique, not worried about what others think, and to have a belief in the impossible.
Luna is also a Hispanic last name
It's a girls name :)
It's a boys name :)
Calm, Serene (Spanish)
It's a boys name :)
Blue Sky (Spanish)
It's a girls name :)
Sorry I accidentally posted it twice my Internet wasn't working right
I met a girl named Emerson, and I just absolutely loved it! I don't know what it means, but she is beautiful and has a great personality!
Keller, for a boy. I don't know what it means but I picture a Keller as a guy who isn't exactly a genius, but is physically strong and will do anything for the ones he loves
This is a link to the social security baby name data base. It will tell you the most popular baby names going back decades! More than 80 years for sure. It's a great resource!
How about shady? He's a democrat who hates libertarians and ultra religious republicans. Thinks god is for fools. A handsome fellow who works in construction.
I love the boy name Gage. It means "pledge" or "oath" in Old French according to a site I found. I just think it's a cool name - one I'd use for my own kid.
I also knew a Keziah and an Anati in school - both girls. Not sure of the meanings.
I sent this poll to myself to go back and look over all y'all's names later:) I like unusual names.
I like the names Ava and Ella. Those aren't odd really, but I just think they are pretty.
Cashmere, nickname Cash
I like Caimin as a boy's name. Don't know what it means but was the name of an Irish saint.
I love that!
Linnæa is what I plan on naming my cutie.
Aiden and lily?
Very popular names.
How about North? If it is good enough for the Khardashians..... :)
My name is Leisa (like Lisa) and my sister is Kathe (like Cathy) so you could take a name you like and mix up the letters in it! I also like unique names so if you want more sugg lemme know! try online too, they have alot!!
Maybe storm or mckendry or jazz or sienna or apple or piper or rye
Guys: Xsaber, Skye, Mia.
Girls: Lillian, Indigo, Zina.
I like Skye a lot, but I'd have used it as a girl's name. That might be one of my favorites so far.
Thank you :)
Skye, Indigo and Mia are pretty gender neutral, so anything works xD
All girls names
Do you know the meanings behind them? All very pretty. :)
I'm trying to find them... And yes, Jezebel, I love that name it's really beautiful.
Marley- meadow near the lake(originally male)
Delaney- Irish multiple defs
Jezebel- Hebrew for pure
So, I posted that before reading it was for book characters. For that, absolutely. For a child, I would think the historical negative connotations would make it questionable.
Sloane- Gaelic for warrior (male originally)
Hadley- heather meadow
Hayden- (male) hedged valley
Addison- son of Adam lol
I think Jezebel is cute for a persons name too. And in the bible Jezebel was just like any king in the bible. She did the same things they did but got a bad rap because she was a woman.
Marley, agreed, but the name has become so associated with prostitutes and adultery, if probably stay away. You're right in what you're saying, but it would be a lifetime of explaining the story. Know what I mean?
I also like-
McKenna- Gaelic and Scottish "ascend"
Dempsey- Irish "proud"
Naveen- Indian "new"
Prostitution and adultery? Sounds like a good character name.
My dog is Jezebel
I like Altair. It can be up either a male or female name, and means bird. It's the brightest star in the constellation Aquila. I also like the name Aquila, which sounds feminine but is a male name that means eagle. Altair and Aquila go together.
Do you play assassins creed?
Just curious. Cause that was so perfect
They are awesome names though. I can see them going together like yin and yang.
I like Cassiopeia and Perseus too. More constellation names. A girl's name meaning "clever", and a boy's name meaning "destroyer". I also like Kaos as a girl's name, meaning I assume, "chaos".
For guys, the name "Wolf", or "Fox" would be cool. Very unique, but not outlandish. For girls, I got nothing, buy stay away from car names (Mercedes, Lexus, Cadillac).
Leo is cool too!
For girls, colors might be interesting. Scarlet, Violet, etc. I also like some of the Eastern European names like Katya.
I found Mazarine is a cool female name, it means a deep blue.
Azure I like as well.
There's a book I read - it's either the Millionaire Next Door, or maybe Freakanomics - that looks at baby names as a predictor of future success and wealth. Worth checking out if you can find it!!!
Meaning? (Ahahaha, meaning, I'm asking meaning the meaning of a name. Sorry it's a brilliant moment for me)
Haha. I have no idea the etymology of the name. All I know is that it is biblical.
I've always loved the name Kai. It has a lot of nature-related meanings I think. Like earth and sea.
My friend had a dog named Abbott. Thought it was such a funny dog name, but it could double for a boy's name. It was a very clumsy/awkward dog...
Damn rlands I'm naming my first born son Kai.
I'm also naming the main character that, with a second syllable.
I love that name so much. It's so perfect.
And what's the main character's name?
Kaizen. It just sounds soo perfect.
And then I googled it last night, and it means Kai "change" and Zen "good" in Japanese. Often taken as "change for the better" or "improvement". It's just so perfect.
Wait that is soooo awesome! Ah! Perf! I knew a guy named Faizen once...never Kaizen. How would you pronounce that? Like raisin with a k? Or like k-eye-zen?
But the raisin with a K sounds cool too. But then it can't be shortened to "K-eye" as a short name. And "Kay" as a nickname is kind...effeminate.
Right. Then he get the nickname Kai, which, as we both know, is amazing. Sounds like a plan!
Stay away from Kaizen. It has a specific meaning in the business world which while very positive, would look very odd on a future resume!
Yeah, I found about the meaning of it in the business world. It's very fitting for a main char though
Ok....I was going off the idea that these were kid's names. Just read down below, and saw we're looking for book characters. There's, some pretty cool ones you could adapt here: echoes.devin.com/watchers/names.html
Caleb - of the heart, loyal
Aurelio - gold, golden
Both usually used for males
iPregnancy is a free app that has a good names list
I like the name Aeron. It means "mountain of strength".
My brothers name is Aaron, and he's a douche.
Which means that is a beautiful name, and its spelled different so win!
I go through a lot of this with my characters. Baby naming websites are the best for this.
Yeah, it freaks my mom out when she looks at the browsing history though
Lmao just tell her that's what it's for. Also you can just Google "names meaning..." if you have an idea what your character is like but don't have a name that matches yet. That's usually how it goes for me.
I like the name Claire which according to the Internet means clear bright and famous
They call him Potatoes. A better name might be Jimmy, at least that's what his mother had thought before the growths started forming.
I am rolling in laughter.
I like the girl name Kenna. It means beautiful. Different, but not too strange.
:O I like
I like that too.
That's definitely getting used.
Well, I have made my one contribution to society today. :)
The problem with fighting anyone the size of the Franco Twins is that it is impossible to knock them down. In fact, it is impossible to tell the difference between one of them standing and one of them sitting. Remarkably, they are also very agile.
My name is Bill Clinton. B. C. Baby Charles. Do you need help getting out of this hospital wing? I can help you because I am indestructible. They think they know the mind control secret, but they don't. They can't because I stole the potatoes.
Mone'y. It's pronounced "moe-nay"; like a bar tending horse. I'm not slow, I just don't know how to read. I wake up every morning and look at my to-do list; my day is diagramed the day before by those in charge. I am good at following directions.
For a girl I really love the name Noel. It's such a pretty name and I would expect someone with that name to be a quiet gentle person who can shine through the toughest of situations :)
That is an awesome description.
Caddy Marie. No clue what it means. Shortening of my hometown but I like the name. No not pronounced normally but rather like Kay-dee. But sweet, spunky, outgoing, firm in their beliefs, helpful, kind. Yeah but that's my idea :)
I got 3 notifications of this posting so, sorry if it did :(
Having a baby? :-))
Heavens no :O
Writing a story, looking for a new character.
Tell us more about the story!
I don't know how to tell it yet. Right now there's just the main, and a little bit if background, a boyhood friend who is now enemy by the mains own turncoat ways and a gigantic war in the shadows that no one sees but harms many.
