Do you feel like Paula Deen should have been dropped from the companies recently?

Neither. The companies exercised their privilege to drop her. However, she was clearly persecuted unfairly. I don't condone anyone using racial slurs. But seriously. This didn't need to go down the road it did.

Oh. I forgot to mention, I never liked her. I think she's a total fraud. A very transparent one, too. Still...

wert, I agree completely. I think that's one of the reasons I don't care she got dropped from the company, she's always been fake. And every apology she's made since the incident has been insincere as well.

This is one of the most hypocritical atrocities that has occurred in a long time.

Why is everyone thinking it was all about one word said one time long ago? It simply wasn't - as documented by *her own words.* Whether she should have been fired or not is really up to the employer in my opinion, but I can understand their stance.

I highly doubt it was a one time thing. If it isn't part of her everyday vernacular, it wouldn't have popped out so freely.
She made enough money to got sit comfortably (and quietly) somewhere for the rest of her life.

The woman should not lose her entire livelihood and reputation over a one time thing! It's ridiculous! However, if this is a documented pattern of behavior; not just using the word but backed up with actions, that's a completely different story.

No
We've given that nasty word too much power again.

I agree. It is a horrible word. I believe in my heart that every year fewer and fewer people use it. All we can do is continue to educate people (with a sledge hammer) how words like the N word and others do hurt and we'll get there.

I think it's gone wayyy too far with Paula. If that's what SHE gets, then I should be hung.
I don't have a racist bone in my body, but I've said that word a ton of times. 'One' just shouldn't use it in the wrong company or context.
