The dog can actually catch the food!

I starve with them.

No-brainer. Kill the cat, and use the dog for hunting.

Dog is more likely to protect me and serve as a warning call for anything or anyone near by. Cat is more likely to smirk at me while danger comes.

I'd take the dog with me as a pet. But be realistic you think if all the food was gone that cat wouldn't have already been dinner for fido?

For me I like to think that they could both speak English and which would give me the better reason to not eat them and I think the dog just won that argument. :)

The dog could be useful as a companion and line of defense, so the cat goes.

I dislike cats a little more than dogs, so they're first. And they're both getting eaten...

Dog has more meat. I assume at lease, unless its like a Maltese or something.

I'm saving cat so that it can bring in more meat...birds, mice, whatever.

I went back and forth before deciding on cat. I figure a dog would make a better companion on the road, so I'd take it with me (and if I was starving later, there the dog would be).

Dog is routinely eaten in much of the world, so it's probably tastier; I'll go for that first. I'll get to the cat when I'm a little hungrier (and EB isn't looking).

Lets assume for the sake of the question, it's a large cat and a medium small dog. So they yield relatively same amount of meat.

I'm going for the one that will give me the most meat.

Cat is the only food. My dog and I are a team against the baddies that want to harm us.
