If Lois Lerner is innocent is there any reason to invoke the 5th amendment? If yes, please explain.

Shes definitely guilty as she has signed off on paperwork to disparage tea partiers. I cant wait to hear this bitch on c span again with that other arrogant weasel Shulman. And just think they will be in charge of your health care in 6 months

She has every right to plead the 5th but congress also has its own set of options. Can't wait for it to play out!

She HAD a right, but blew that right when she made her "innocence" statement. Now she will be compelled to testify under oath or go to jail.

I think she's scum, but I acknowledge that even innocent people would be smart to invoke the 5th and lawyer-up. I would. Innocent people do sometimes get hurt.

I disagree. Innocent people don't need to plead the 5th.

Too many innocent people have spent years in jail only to be freed later when DNA or other evidence releases them. Many helped hang themselves by cooperating under the premise that they would be ok. Libby scooter is a good example of a guy .....

.... That would have Been just fine had he kept his mouth shut.

A skilled lawyer can take an innocent person through a line of questions that makes them appear guilty- especially with a jury that is easily persuaded by conditional answers and false choices. This is usually why defense lawyers object to questions.

Yesterday 84 people on this app willingly chose between vandalizing property with either poop or pee. They probably wouldn't do either, but they chose to answer instead of just ignoring the question. I view pleading the 5th as ignoring bad questions.

It is arguably demonstrably evident she most likely is not innocent. She was behind FEC targeting of Christian Coalition case few yrs back. Then was promoted to IRS. Do a little research & it is harder to buy she is likely innocent.

She's doing it unconstitutionally to protect not herself but her supervisors, probably right up to White House staff like Valerie Jarrett.

That may be true, but that is not the purpose of the 5th amendment. It's there to protect from SELF incrimination, not the incrimination of others who deserve to be incriminated!

I totally agree - that's why I said "unconstitutionally." Hope they nail her AND her bosses, then abolish the IRS.

And wouldn't it be swell if the real power players behind this and MrO's several other scandals were brought to justice.

What's saddest about this is that there are few honest people on the left courageous enough to stand and condemn MrO.
