Is there legal punishment for drinking while underage?

In NY, minors are fined, mandated to AA, and or mandated to 40 hours community service. Failure to follow could actually mean spending time in a juvenile detention center.

Yes true. The bar I do security in, comes across this often. What ends up happening is, we call the police, they issue a desk appearance ticket if the offenders are still in the area- which oddly enough they are most of the time. Usually they get the 5 days community service, but the repeats get AA and the big mouths get all 3.

Yes. I agree that in home is different. But here, even if the child drinks at home, if they become drunk, the parent can be arrested for endangering their welfare.

It may not seem like punishment, but removing that child into the child protective services system, which is what they do, is punishment enough.

Technically, no. But it is mandated by a judge and it is usually at a lock down facility/campus upstate.

Is there? No. Should there be, yes. The mind should develop before drinking alcohol, even then alcohol should be regulated.

Not exactly just stricter alcoholic regulation. How exactly? I do not know.
