Not directly, but it might introduce a delay and distraction that interferes with taking a timely action that might actually change something for the better. So at best, it wastes time.

I believe prayer brings peace but I don't think it does change things. It's a 50/50 thing.

No. It only makes the person praying feel better, it has no impact on anything outside of that

Mumbling quietly to oneself can only have the impact of changing ones personal feelings: e.g., "prayers" of gratitude may help a person feel more thankful for his life and friends; "prayers" of demand (gimme an Audi, God!) can only make one feel needy and let down…because there's no god to answer the prayer.

Prayer changes you, not the outcome of the football game, or whatever it is you are praying for.

The biggest mistake people make when praying is that they don't listen for the answer.
