I think the attention part is a given. As far as the credibility, there might be a confidence factor in play as well as increased interpersonal skills. More attractive people are more likely to be socially ahead growing up (or at least they appear to be, which is the same thing as far as the question is concerned).
Too many people pay too much attention to someones looks, honestly i find the whole 'dolled up to perfection' look to be unattractive, its our blemishes and our quirks that make us who we are
I think uglier people have worse "luck" than good looking people, so there's definitely a correlation there. Maybe it has to do with confidence like a self fulfilling prophecy, idk.
