Atheists do not necessarily need to be anti-theists. That is, atheists can tolerate and accept the religious views of others.

Yes. In fact, the seemingly deliberate "confusion" over the meaning of the word atheist, as distinct from anti-theist, is why I generally use the terms non-theist or apatheist instead.

Tolerate yes, of course. Accept, no.

Analogy: if I believe in the Easter bunny, is it reasonable for people to accept that, assuming I'm not mentally ill?

eh, that's different, we know that's made up.

It's very much the same to me. Religion is manufactured by man.

I wouldn't say that the gods were manufactured by man. Not all atheists are the same as you

well, saying that all gods are manufactured by men can be seen as either a misinformed statement or an opinion.

but like I said, not all atheists are like you

Based on your comments, you are unable to appreciate the mindset of atheists. We don't accept that God exists. Not any God.

you're speaking for non agnostic atheists, right? Ha. What a hypocrite

What the hell is a non agnostic atheist?

I'll make it real simple for you. Atheist = No God.

Made it sound like you were saying that

But yeah, I know you don't believe in them, but there are atheists that have no problem with others believing in gods.

I don't either. Go back to my original comment.

you just said atheists can't accept that people worship gods

I said "Tolerate yes, of course. Accept, no." How do you misinterpret that as me having a problem with religious people?

Xemanis Neutral Good

obviously if you're atheist you don't worship any gods so it pretty much clears that part up, but accepting that they do worship them is something different entirely

that's why I asked you to elaborate

Last attempt. I don't accept that God exists, nor "the religious views of others." That's how your poll question reads.

Tolerate yes, of course. Accept, no.

okay, excellent.

I didn't mean "accept" as "accept that what they believe is true," but as "be ok with the fact that they believe that. Sorry, I shouldn't have been so vague.

that's what I thought you meant

My longtime girlfriend is an atheist. I am a Catholic, and a pretty strong one at that. We both feel comfortable talking to each other about our faith. I know about her search and I respect her conclusion, and she knows and respects mine as well.

Being an atheist who does exactly that, I agree.

Agree. I don't care if someone is religious as long as they don't try to force their beliefs onto me.
