Would you be in favor of primary and secondary schools starting classes an hour later? (Relative to your local school district starting time)
It might smooth out heavier traffic.. But it'd be harder for parents who work to get their kids to school
The little kids need to go at 7 am. The high school kids need to go after 9. They can't wake up anyway. But our schools here are just the opposite. It's just dumb.
Just extend the school day to 9-5 and give the kids a more leisurely pace in which to learn.
Helps working parents, too.
Yes. Some schools start at 730 or even earlier. That's ridiculously early for everyone including parents, teachers and the staff involved in making a 730 start time possible.
No. My kids are in school from 850 to 348. I don't want my kids to be in school from 10-5.
You're the exception. Most schools start before 8.
8:45 is the ideal start time!
Yes- might just be some adjustments to make, like increasing bussing, as you'd be putting student drop off time right around the common 9 am start time.
From what I've read, this would be really beneficial to the students, at least biologically. I imagine it could make some scheduling (at both ends of the school day) problematic.
There are two points in favor of doing that. From the recent reports in the media it seems that it would be a lot better for students to start later. Also, it might keep children from having to stand outdoors at the school bus stop on dark mornings. It might create conflicts with parents' work schedules, though.
I went with yes, because when I was in school I hated getting up so early.
It already creates conflicts with parents' schedules.
