Is all knowledge good?
It's what's done or isn't done with it that can be the issue...
Yes. All knowledge is good. It is beneficial. People change because of knowledge.
It helps me know where and how to spend my money. I know who is a liar and who isn't full of shit. It helps me become more socially aware, and do things without setting the house on fire. No knowledge is useless. Everything we know helps us.
If you think you know too much of something, you need to learn the rest to counteract. Least that has always helped me. Knowing nothing and knowing everything are both bliss.
For the most part, people who can handle the dirty truth of all our problems, sure. But most Americans don't deserve to know about touchy topics, as many are ignorant as to why these things happen
good, not necessarily useful or wanted.
Biting the apple in the garden of Eden. Whether you take it literally, figuratively, or allegorically, you gotta agree it's bad.
Hurtful knowledge that serves no useful purpose is not good.
All knowledge is good,it's how someone uses it that makes it bad
I said no, but my answer is that I don't know
Knowledge isn't good or evil... So kind of a bad question
Is having a house, food and water good? That's a stupid question because none of those things can be good
you could have knowledge that you don't know how to live with.
Exactly! For this reason I say all knowledge is not good.
What about having knowledge about knowing how to live with knowledge you can't live with? Maybe it's all a paradox. LOL
It depends on the situation.
Those of you saying knowledge is neutral have a fair point. For those of you saying all knowledge is good, please explain how human beings having the knowledge to make nuclear weapons is a good thing.
I say it's neutral. But I think their point is that learning that info is not bad. Therefore it's only learning which can be construed as a good thing. What you do with that knowledge is what can be good or evil
But I honestly think that means that the knowledge is neutral. Which is why I think the question is worded poorly
Knowledge is neither good or bad. It is what is done or not done that has positive or negative implications
Knowledge is just information. Without a human being to assimilate it and synthesize new ideas knowledge is useless.
Technically knowledge is information that a human knows. (Can be extended to all living things I suppose). But I do agree with you're sentiment
Well, these days we store so much information there is no possible way a person can know it all. So the information sits in a book, computer, scroll, etc.... And is useless until an intelligent person make sense of it and applies it in reality.
My point is that there is a difference between knowledge and information.
Sometimes ya just don't wanna know!
Your parents having sex.
You already have that knowledge. You can be completely ignorant and still connect the fact you exist with sex and your parents.
Knowledge is neutral.
I don't see knowledge as having either quality, good or bad. It just is.
Very true. There are some things that knowing them cause negative reactions.
All knowledge is good. It just depends who uses the knowledge.
Knowledge is a tool. It is neutral. All knowledge has the potential to be good.
An example of bad knowledge would be?
Knowing what sexual position your parents prefer to use.
I wouldn't consider that bad knowledge. Unwanted knowledge, sure, but it's not disadvantageous to the person's wellbeing or survival once they know it.
Absolutely. There is no example I've ever heard of where one could identify any shred of knowledge as harmful before they'd learned it, and even then it wouldn't be the knowledge but their lack of preparedness for it that might have appeared briefly to be a negative. Ignorance is never bliss, it is just ignorance, and to remain ignorant, willfully, is the worst kind of ignorance there is.
No. Knowledge of what happened in a few tv shows I haven't caught up on yet is obviously bad.
Unwanted does not mean bad
Knowledge is good. How that knowledge is used is another story.
It's both good and bad, but the good out weighs the bad, so therefor, it is good.
1) not what the question asked
2) it may be good to know something. But it doesn't mean the knowledge is good in itself. The knowledge is neutral
If you were to know everything about everything, I feel you'd lose touch with your humanity and personal world. You'd be the smartest, most depressed person in the world.
There's knowledge and there's wisdom.
Knowledge means knowing a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom means not putting tomato in a fruit salad.
Knowledge isn't inherently good or bad; what you do with it is the defining characteristic.
The Tree. The Tree.
No. A serial killer knowing how to torture his victims slowly and knowing how not to get caught is not good knowledge, for example.
All knowledge is good; how it is used may not be, though
Knowledge is neutral and calling knowledge evil is defending ignorance. Defending ignorance and spreading it is what should be considered evil.
There are some things about which I would rather be ignorant. Sometimes ignorance truly is bliss.
Knowing is half the battle!
the other half is violence
Knowledge is good.
Use of that knowledge is where things have the opportunity to stay good or go bad.
I say yes but I don't know exactly what the question is asking because knowledge about something like rape statistics is pretty sad but it's something the happens in our society and I think it is important to know stuff like that. It is not pleasant knowledge to have but it is good to be aware of it
It's called spoilers
Depends on you use knowledge. Hitler, Osama, and Charlie Manson were knowledgeable in many ways, and could have used that knowledge to help others, but instead, well, we know the rest of their stories.
*Depends on how you use knowledge*.
Knowledge is neutral on the good/bad scale. It is in its use or abuse where good/bad enters the scene.
Most is, but not all. I would not want to know the moment of my death in advance, for example. In most cases, however, knowledge is a neutral tool, good or evil depending on how it is applied.
Is lack of knowledge bad?
It seems to me this answer depends on the knowledge and the person recieving it.
Yes but it depends who has it. Remember the saying " Knowledge is power"
For me, personally, I'm going with "No". First, I do not require knowing EVERYthing about everything. Again, speaking only for myself, if I was my own access to all knowledge, I might be impossible to be around, and would likely lack the wisdom to process and filter that knowledge through. For every subject under the sun, there is an expert SOMEwhere. I will find them. :)
Better than ignorance
Would you say the knowledge of nuclear weapons has been better for the world than being in ignorance of it would have been?
I don't think the knowledge of nuclear weapons is inherently bad. It's not like the knowledge is what might cause you to use them to kill.
Without the knowledge you can't use them to kill, with the knowledge it is very likely that you will.
The knowledge is a tool. With out the knowledge of how to do anything you cannot do that either.
The knowledge itself is neutral while the use of it may be bad
Knowledge is not good or evil it just is
Knowledge itself is not good nor bad; it is simply interpreted differently by different people.
Sometimes you're better off not knowing things, like the time my brother told me that he hooked up with two close female acquaintances of mine.
Knowledge is neither good nor bad.
There is a Burden of Knowledge that can certainly make you miserable in certain situations.
But Id rather have it than not.
Yes. Knowledge, the facts, the truth is neutral in and of itself. How it is used can benefit or hurt mankind.
Some knowledge shouldn't be known by the public. That would cause more panic and alarm than it would inform.
All of the comments below are accurate. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
I think it is, but the knowledgable few will be shouted down by the ignorant masses.
Well that's certainly ironic coming from you
Ignorant masses; Trump and Cruze supporters? Correlation there?
They come in all forms. Still waiting on how it's ironic? Examples?
Cowboy you believe such idiotic things I'm not sure you know what sourcing is
So you have nothing. Ok thanks.
Cowboy you are the physical embodiment of the ignorant masses
You're welcome to that opinion but I'm still not seeing any proof.
You are a hoot, cowboy! Even when confronted with proof you just deny its true. You are one of those "masses" whose mantra is, "I don't know why, I just know that it's true".
I've never said that. Have any real proof?
Someone asking for proof when they have no intention of accepting it but only to discredit it even if it came from Jesus has a name.....troll
I simply asked the person who made the claim to back it up. Didn't think it would be so hard to do given how sure he is but here I am. Still waiting.
Cowboy, it's not hard. It's just pointless for those of us who have dealt with you before!
Keep waiting 😛😝😜
I won't be waiting because you have nothing. ✌🏻️
