I am more of a fan of essay abd shirt answer question. Gives more opportunity to practice the b.s. skills I learned in high school

I asked a HS German exchange student if American schooling was easier. She said yes because we offer multiple choice.

In tests, especially in state standardized testing, I do not like open response. So, yes, I like multiple choice.

I was the kid in class asking the professor for more essays and less multiple choice. I do well on essays, and if I don't know something I can write more about what I do know, whereas with multiple choice I have between a 33% and 20% chance of getting it right, depending on the number of answer choices. True false is even worse for me, because there is no process of elimination.

I prefer a mix of question types to benefit maby different types of people.

In general, I'm about it. On SoH, I'm opposed.

Though I'd support conditional follow-ups/linked questions.

Pro-multiple choice, anti-fill-in-the-blank.

In college, a professor was criticized by some students for only having essay questions on tests. The prof replied that he would have multiple choice and true false questions on his next test. The test had one multiple choice and one true false question...the rest were essay questions.

You greatly improve your chances of being right when guessing if you do multiple choice.

But I hate when they penalize you for wrong answers like they do on the SAT.

No. Maybe if they brought back power users for a fee, but with everybody using it we'd get too many polls like:

"Who has lied most during this election?"
1. Hillary
2. Hillary Rodham Clinton
3. H.R.C.
4. Maybe

On SOH for user polls, having 2 choices to pick from is best. The amount of polls that would add "any", "maybe", or "both" would seriously detract from the app for me. I like being forced to choose between 2 solid choices.

No way. Multiple choice is obnoxious. Life is more nuanced and complicated than checking boxes!

Good point. I was thinking how awesome it would be in terms of SoH polls. But high school bubbles work, too. 😉
