Religious freedom no longer exists in America...UNLESS you're a Christian. Watch (link below) as a Pastafarian is denied EQUAL religious rights by a Nebraska Federal Court. (Biased answers obviously...don't say I didn't warn you 😉)
Lol. Now you know that it's not a true religion unless they wear funny hats and at least 100,000 people have died. Pastafarian has only one of those. Sorry, case closed. 😝
How does this ruling show any bias towards Christianity? More importantly how does it discriminate against Paganism, Islam, or Judaism? Don't be this stupid.
Because in recent months all these fucking states whine and complain about religious liberty (only Christians btw) yet when it comes to other religions there think they can deny their practitioners religious liberties. I'm tired of Christians thinking they're so fucking special and above everyone else.
They don't, I'm a Christian and I believe that Nebraska made an unfair ruling. Just because other Christians have acted like a victim doesn't mean you should also. Your poll description was false and Christianity had nothing to do with the court's ruling.
Also, if anyone claims to be more superior it's the atheists thinking that being atheist makes them inherently smarter than religious people.
Would the court ever call Christianity fiction. FUUUUUUCK no. (Unless I was judge) The fact that this judge (8/10 chance he's Christian) has the audacity to call a religion fiction meanwhile bitch about how Christians are oppressed is horseshit. If one religion is fake they're all fake. If one is real they're all real. (According to the constitution)
Can you prove that Christanity had any influence in this Judge's decision? Also, please tell me how this ruling is opressing other religions like Judaism, Islam, or Paganism like your poll is claiming.
Jenna's got a point. I don't get my Pagan holiday off. December 21. Where's my freedom?
People don't even get Christmas off, Winter Solace is a week long as well...
I'm still waiting for Jenna to tell me how Christianity influenced the judge's decision, or how any other religion is oppressed by this ruling besides the spaghetti one.
Solstice. It's a moment in time on or near the 21st of December. But isn't December 25th a national holiday. Paid vacation for government workers? I think it is. Mine is not. Either are Jewish or Muslim holidays. Some overlap.
Can't you celebrate it on the 25th? The celebration is a couple weeks I thought. Yule time. Also, I'm sure you can get time off for the 21at unless you work for a private business.
Although if you're not sending your kids out from Halloween to Christmas you're not doing the celebration right either.
But how does a judge or guard or school teacher for that matter, prevent someone from screwing around with authorities and making up some made up religion so they can be silly in school/prison/work? How do you control the crazies and trouble makers?
Lol. No. Yule is one day. The Yule tide is the season. Like the Christmas season. Halloween is a very important religious evening for us. It's a national holiday in Mexico. Day of the dead. I'm not sure what you mean sending your kids out from Halloween to Christmas though.
I follow European Paganism, you're supposed to send your child at a certain age through some journey that takes from Halloween to around Christmas where you'll have a feast called Yule.
Is that German? Wicca don't do that here.
Right. Germanic Norse. Interesting. I think that the Vikings were similar.
Not watching the video because this guy is arrogant and biased. Give me a link so I can defend my states decision.
The Flying Spaghetti Monster gets no respect!
Random question: Man walks into airport with a ski mask on trying to get his photo taken for passport or ID. Should he be allowed too?
No, and you shouldn't be allowed to wear religious garments for id photos, but if your are going to allow one religion to, you must allow them all to.
Okay, just checking. I agree. However, Muslim women are allowed to, but if I made a religion wear we wear ski mask I would be forced to take it off for an ID.
Well The Whole point of the those photos is that's what you like on any regular day. So if you wore that ski mask everyday on public then you should be able to wear it in your photo.
But they change the colors they were, they have the same heritage. Skin color, eye color and hair color are all alike so when a hijab is on, many Muslim women look the same. So trying to identify one that is not easy. Plus you aren't gonna be able to walk around the street with a ski mask on, it shows you are doing something bad. But if it was a religion and a whole group of people wore them and took photos like that then how do you difference them from each other ?
Just because you can't tell the different between them doesn't mean no one else can either. The Muslim ladies with hijabs on campus are as varied as women without.
My greater point being that if your going to call one religion "fiction" You better call then all fiction and take away their special rights. Either that or give them all (More matter how satirical) the same rights.
It's annoying when the religious right scream about how they're being oppressed, that they constantly have their religious freedoms revoked and how the love the constitution, yet they are the ones who shoved gay marriage bans, anti transgender and anti LGBA laws, religion in PUBLIC schools plus a bundle of other stuff down our throats.
Keep your church out of my state. I'll keep my state out of your church. Don't bitch about how you need more religious freedom while you teach creationism, make anti LGBTQA laws, and get tax exempt status.
Lol, people said the same thing about mine, but the funny thing is I believe the same as theirs
I just brushed it off.. I didn't care. But if the state is gonna pull this BS, that's no good
Define "Anti- Lgbt and Anti- trasgender" laws.
Let's start with North Carolina House Bill 2 aka "The Bathroom Bill"
You have to use the bathroom of what your genitals and gender are? So oppressive...
What about the part of the law where you can no longer due over sexual orientation/gender identification discrimination. What about those who underwent SRS?
I personally think the surgery and hormone injections should be illegal and it's not at all from a religious standpoint. That being said if they have male genitalla, you use the male bathroom, if you have female genitalla you use the female bathroom.
And why should it be illegal?
That's NOT what the law says though.
It should be illegal because no one in their right mind can see injecting foreign hormones in your body, mutilating your genitals, and putting plastic in your chest to be something you're not healthy or normal. At least make the hormone treatments and surgery illegal to minors...
It shouldn't be illegal at all. These people are trapped in the wrong body and have every right to be in the correct one. Weather they're 16 or 96. There are no reports of someone undergoing SRS and suffering physically because of it. Only suffering is from those unable to transition and those who suffer bladder infections because of laws like this.
That's false, many Transgenders remain depressed and kill themselves even after the surgery and in accepting areas like San Francisco they still have a high suicide and depression rate. It's a mental illness that shouldn't be given into.
I recommend reading this: cnsnews.com/news/article/michael-w-chapman/johns-hopkins-psychiatrist-transgender-mental-disorder-sex-change
It's not a mental illness luft. What will it take for you to understand that?
An identity disorder is a type of mental disease. Read the article.
It's not an identity disorder though. It's not a disorder. It's how people truly are. Calling it a mental disorder only makes it worse for those who are trying to transition. What sort you not understand?
“Trans people have brains that are different from males and females, a unique kind of brain,” Guillamon says. “It is simplistic to say that a female-to-male transgender person is a female trapped in a male body. It's not because they have a male brain but a transsexual brain.”
"Overall the weight of these studies and others points strongly toward a biological basis for gender dysphoria. But given the variety of transgender people and the variation in the brains of men and women generally, it will be a long time, if ever, before a doctor can do a brain scan on a child and say, “Yes, this child is trans.'"
They have a unique brain? You know who else has a "unique brain", people who are anorexic and schizophrenic.
Transgenderism constitutes a mental disorder in two respects. The first is that the idea of sex misalignment is simply mistaken – it does not correspond with physical reality. The second is that it can lead to grim psychological outcomes.
1. It's a biological thing. Read the Scientific American article and quotes. Again, "Overall the weight of these studies and others points strongly toward a biological basis for gender dysphoria."
2. The harassment leads to depression. The hopelessness, lonelyness and constant abuse one may feel before and whilst transitioning leads to grim outcomes. Not the transition it's self. Once they have depression (A real mental illness that can develop before the transition) stays with them through the transition. Again because depression is a real mental illness.
But if that were the case then how come Transgenders are more likely to kill themselves after the surgery, and even in places that accept transgenders like San Francisco they still have a huge depression problem within the transgender community?
That is because they have depression before or during their transition. Depression being a real mental disorder must be treated and even if treated can still lead to the victim commuting suicide. Depression isn't something that is cured by transitioning and becoming more comfortable with who you are. It's treated via medication and psychological therapy, but even then it may not be enough to save them from themselves.
So they are inherently depressed because they can never be who they are? That sounds like a mental illness.
I wouldn't necessarily say it doesn't exist for all nonchristians, but I would say from what it sounds like this isn't fair.
I can't really watch the video right now.. I'm on mobile data. Can you describe what was denied and why?
A man in a Nebraska prison filed a request to be allowed to wear his religious garments and gold religious services, a right given to other religions. It's not asking for special rights, it is asking for equality rights. The Nebraska Federal Court came back with a 16 page report and said, "This is not a question of theology. The Pastafarian Gospel is plainly a work of satire, meant to entertain while making a pointed political statement. Reading it as religious doctrine would be little different from grounding a religious exercise on any other work of fiction."
(Paraphrased from -Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk)
Definitely not fair.
"Reading it as religious doctrine would be little different from grounding a religious exercise on any other work of fiction." It's amazing how close the judge comes to realizing the entire point of pastafarianism
I know it's hysterical! 😂 right over the heads of them. In fact Kyle brought that very point up a few seconds later.
All praise his noodlelyness!
😜 Xemanis and I actually agree!!!! 🍾
