If you were the president, and someone came up to you with a product that would extend life to 180 years, would you suppress it.
All depends on what it was.
The real answer is I do not know. You have to realize that if a product was available that would double the current life expectancy it would create horrible problems. You can imagine the young people trying to support a group of people ranging from the age of 65 to 150. The idea that birth control would work to control the population growth unfortunately would also control the number of young people that would be working supporting the old. In animal models that have been run with plenty of water and food the animals turn to cannibalism and homosexuality and control their population. The other problem is that although we have the natural desire to extend our life as you get older your going to have more aches and pains and less ability to do things. We all would like to be able to do more but unfortunately age or perhaps I should say our current aging leads to the ability to do less.
What if it slowed both the growth and aging process, such as a 60 year-old having the body of a 30 year-old?
That would be great. But do we still have government retirees that get 80% of their salary from age 50 to 180. That won't work. But the unions won't allow change.
