Tobacco/Nicotine.

Started smoking in college when drinking, got hard into the habit freshman/soph year.
Stopped smoking, and took up dipping because it was easier/cheaper/didn't smell
Went to Italy for a summer, no dip, so I started smoking heavily again.
Came back to college, started doing both heavily.
Graduated college, and I've cut out the cigs completely but still dip too much.

I beat cigarettes; it wasn't easy, and it took a few tries.

Sugar! When I do Atkins my second or third day I get a very bad headache and upset stomach. It's called the Atkins flu. Actually it's withdrawal. I quit sugar for a week at my husband kept on tempting me. I had some sugar now I hate myself.

Only addiction I've struggled to break is smoking. I'm addicted to coffee, but that's one that I'm fine with!

Nicotine. Quit 4 pack a day habit cold turkey. I was a miserable pr**k for over a year.

That's impressive! Probably took a crazy amount of self control.

It's amazing that it took a year for the cravings/symptoms to subside. Good for you for hanging in there!!
