He's an idiot. The reason the U.S. doesn't make the cheap goods we outsource to China is because our workforce has more valuable things to do. His economic policies would put us back 50 years and kill our competitive edge.
Rephrased: U.S. factory workers are better suited for building complicated machines/technology than they are the cheap products we outsource to China. If we tried to bring those factories back to the US then we would be wasting the talents of our workforce.
Built in China, designed in the good ol USA. Even Japan isn't as good at inventing as the US. They are only good at reinventing US products. (Tv, compact car, consoles, computer). All started in the US but improved in Japan.
It would only hurt us because it would get overblown. We are innovators and have ties to basically every nation on earth. Reproducing what they make wouldn't be difficult, but it would raise the prices on a lot of the "cheap"goods. What would kill us is their influence on the international market.
China relies far more on us than we do them. We outsource the lowest end of our products (that we could easily get by without) and they rely on us for innovation.
