Euthanasia is now legal. Dr. Bill wants to open "Euthanasia Adventures" to help patients die in exciting and adventurous ways by recreating movie death scenes, being catapulted into volcanoes, shot into space, and anything else their hearts desire.

I think you people are forgetting that it's none of your god damn business if the patient is consenting.

Why not? Death is only the beginning of the real adventure. Go out in the biggest party you can. Unless, of course, you aren't certain of your destiny. Then you'd better cower under the covers and stay away from Dr. Kevorkian as long as you can.

While I am not against active or passive euthanasia, I am against physician assisted because of the hippocratic oath. This slippery slope would negatively pollute the medical profession.

That's a weird line to draw.
It means you'd be ok with this if it wasn't being run by a physician.

What if keeping the patient alive would do more harm than letting them die? If it would cause more suffering?

MrMilkdud
04/07/16 8:46 pm

It's currently legal to allow a sick patient to die of natural causes. It's called a "Do not resuscitate" order.
Patients can also refuse treatment.

Letting someone die is significantly different than euthanizing them or helping them commit suicide.

Men ill. Yes. As a libertarian each person has the right to control their own life. I don't agree with it, but they might.
Currently, hospice is quite close to passive euthanasia.

Suffering is more harmful than a quick end, in my opinion

Somehow I didn't think so. Sort of goes against Catholic doctrine.

I wholeheartedly approve. God forbid, if I ever have a terminal illness where euthanasia is the best option... I would hope someone would fulfill my wish to die riddled with bullets while running from a bank carrying stolen bags of money, bills fluttering through the air. I mean, lethal injection? Boooooooring!

I disapprove. I don't think there's a large enough market for that to keep that business going. I think most people who want to die would want to be comfortable with their family. Very few would want to die a horrible death.

The only reason you disapprove is because you don't think the business model is sound?

Carolynn new jersey
04/07/16 2:45 pm

Yes, assuming the patient gave his consent and this business is properly regulated. I mean, they need to go through counseling first and get an ok by a licensed doctor. There should be a process to it, someone can't just say "I want to die this way" and go get it done.

I don't know. Euthanasia of the terminally ill makes sense if they request it, but I wouldn't want to glorify unnecessary death.

Do it. People don't live their lives enough as it is. If dying enables someone to truly pursue their hearts desire then, then let it be.

And it probably wouldn't be all that unusual for the death techs. I bet it would become a grind after a while.
Get up, go to work, dress up like Freddy. Chase someone down a set that looks like elm street and skewer them on your finger knife glove thing every 15-30 minutes.
I bet it would become kind of a grind.

I imagine the death by snu snu option would require legalized prostitution on top of legalized euthanasia, but if they offer it I see it quickly becoming the number one request. Freaky add-on requests would require additional fees, natch!
