I love flowers!! The colors, the scents, how they reach up to the sun and rejoice at being alive! I don't cut flowers. I love the feeling of carelessness. And I admire anyone with flowers - they love life! I stop and take a good look.

Design. Anyone can have flowers planted. A beautiful garden takes real planning and knowledge.

When I was little, my parents had a garden with flowers. A neighbor actually said that's good soil, why waste it on flowers, grow produce!
Symmetry. The flowers don't have to be in bloom, and the plants don't have to even be flowers for that matter, for me to enjoy a well thought out design.
Well thought out design, most definitely. It doesn't have to be symmetrical, though.
It usually does, for me. Or at least be balanced. It can be uneven, no problem, but if the effect is to look uneven it will drive me nuts.

Landscaping. I love the flowers, but I'm in awe of gardens where everything just goes together with different colors and sizes and textures and always looks good, regardless of the season.
The design. I like Victorian style gardens with shaped hedges, fountains and pavilions.
