Do you believe that Ted Cruz has ever read the Constitution, the one document that every President swears "to preserve, protect, and defend," from beginning to end?

Given the oath of enlistment for the armed services also requires service men and women to support and defend the Constitution, do you believe that a majority of them have read it?

"I, (state name of enlistee), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

And I have taken that oath and read said document.

Great, but that wasn't the question.

I was asking about most enlisted personnel. I believe you were implying that Trump is less qualified than Cruz for the office based on whether he's read the Constitution. I am asserting that the majority of service people are immensely qualified for their positions but haven't read it.

There is no Constitutional mandate for enlistees to take an oath to support and defend the Constitution. There is one, however, for the President to preserve, protect, and defend the same.

You've really been stretching for points to make Cruz look electable. That's surprising when his opponent is such a buffoon.

I haven't been stretching at all. Every negative Trump poll I post is substantial and fact-based. This is the only one (or one of few) I've ever posted that was speculation based.

He was too busy reading the Bible while traveling with his evangelist father.

Anyone who said no does not know anything about Cruz.

He used to recite the entire thing from memory as a teenager. Of COURSE he's read it.

I didn't know that but I am not surprised.

Given the fact he has presented cases before the Supreme Court specifically addressing Constitutional issues - and won - it is hard to believe he doesn't have more than a passing knowledge of what it says & means.

Yes, and President Trump should appoint him to the Supreme Court...

But he wouldn't. President Trump would appoint his radical, left-wing, pro-abortion sister. He said so himself.

Word is that Trump is planning on soon releasing a list of names from which he would pick a Supreme Court justice. I seriously doubt his sister will be included...we'll see.

How can 30% say no to this? Lol
Ted Cruz can probably recite the entire Constitution beginning to end.

He went through the law school, right. If he took a course in constitutional law, I think he would have had to read it in order to pass. I'll say yes.

Why would I ask when the answer is clearly "no?" Then again, I did ask about Trump, and that's also a no....

Probaly, although he sometimes adds his own interpretations of it in his arguments.

It's a very short document that all lawyers have studied extensively. Yes!

Absolutely! I think most politicians of any political party have read it. Now whether or not they choose to follow it...that's a different story. Haha
