yes, for a funeral

I've taken flights on less than 30 minutes notice.

Not that I can remember. The only trips I've taken since I retired were planned well ahead, and when I was working, I *had* to plan ahead for vacation trips unless it was an emergency.

The only thing resembling a last-minute trip I can remember was when my ex-father-in-law died and I wanted to go to the funeral and family gathering. Air flights from Cincinnati to Grand Rapids MI were absurd, though - anything that wasn't outrageously expensive was going to involve 2 layovers, one somewhere else in the Midwest and one on the edge of the east coast; and would take the better part of a day & evening, each way. My destination was about 4.5 driving miles away, so this seemed absurd.

I took a bus. Even with having to change buses near Detroit, it was a speedy and pretty pleasant trip.

I went to Ethiopia this summer all of a sudden. I didn't need to do it last minute per se, but the opportunity opened up last minute.
