Do you have a job that pays you extra for working overtime?

Yes, thanks to collective bargaining. It's the only way to work if you're hourly!
Time and a half over 8 or 40, double on Sunday if it's our 7th day. Holiday plus time and a half if scheduled.
Got a check coming next week for around 132 hours for last week lol
No but this is expected.
I get paid to complete tasks.
Did all the years was working.
Self employed sales. Work more=sell more=make more. It's a beautiful country.
Last time I had such a job was about twenty years ago. Worked 60-80 hour weeks while pregnant. It was awesome.
I am self-employed.
Nice! If I may ask, what do you do?
Art and web design. I also translate part time.
I work 42 hours one week and 46 the next for the same pay. I am salaried. Kiiiind of hoping this new overtime law passes.
Business owner. Couldn't afford my overtime!
Nope. That's what happens when you own a business though
I never work overtime, since I'm part time
Yeah, I'm hourly. I get time-and-a-half for anything over 40 hours in accordance with federal law. However, my manager rakes me over the coals if I hit OT.
Never worked on the clock. Pretty much worked based on the job needs. Worked from home a lot. Worked off site a lot. Very flexible.
Salary is a double-edged sword.
I take days off when my works done, I can plan things out financially without worry of my hours.
But when shit needs to get done, when problems arise, when all-nighters need to get put in, my ass is there for the same paycheck.
Don't let them take advantage of you. There are new laws to protect you.
If anything Im taking advantage of my Boss lol
I am obnoxiously overpaid 😂😂
Lol. He obviously thinks that you're worth it or he wouldn't pay you so much. You probably make him triple what he pays you. That's typical of business salaries.
Break, I believe the protection is for those making less than 50k/yr. at that level no one should be salaried.
Yea the lowest I know personally are some guys we work with periodically at The University of Penn that are salaried around 45k and those fuckers get so much time off throughout the year they shouldnt bitch lol.
The opposite around here. They get no comp-time, always work over 40 and when ever the budget doesn't hit expectation they force them to take vacation at the end of the year but not on the holidays.
I'm salaried. There is no "overtime."
Well. There is. You just don't get paid for it. Don't let them take advantage of you. There are new laws to protect you.
Nope. I'm paid to do a job, not for my time. No one is "taking advantage" if me and I don't need any "protection" from my customers.
Ok. But many salaried workers are abused and forced to work overtime for free. It's been a scam for years.
Cool story but as I said, I'm paid a salary. Nothing is for free.
Independent contractor here, o get payed the same regardless of how many hours I put in.
After no raise three years in a row, overtime pay is the least they can do for me since we work 60 hour weeks understaffed.
I get have annoyed at Tony's lackeys who are ruining this app. Proofreading is truly a lost art...
I get have? What's that?
Yeah......I wish you can edit after the fact.
Yes, Tony, are you listening?
I'm a high-rise window washer!!! Love that overtime!!!
Also retired. My job paid for overtime but there was little of it.
My jobs don't pay me at all for overtime hours.
Not that overtime is encouraged or really even allowed, I usually end up with about 30-45 minutes of overtime a week. I do tech support, and if I'm on a call when it's time to clock out, I'm on a call until the issue is resolved.
Retired. I don't get paid overtime for reading, watching TV, walking the dog or napping.
As of today I do apparently, and for the next 5-6 weeks.
If I work over 81 hours in the month, the overtime is paid at 130%.
But most in my field don't get any overtime. So we're pretty lucky just to get this. Unfortunately most of us don't get much over 81 hours a month. 100 is the maximum allowed by federal law. The average is 70.
I get 1.5 for the first 9 and 2.0 for all time after that...plus 2.0 on Sunday! When that ask for OT I'm an enthusiastic yes.
Hope, they wouldn't let me work overtime for that reason
Nope, I'm a student
Mandatory overtime plus on call pay. Healthcare is such a hellhole. I don't even want to be there 8 hours some days. Angels of mercy. Lmao. If you only knew...
At least you get paid to be on call. Flight attendants don't get paid to be on call.
Yes, although they don't like it. I usually take comp time for the first 8 hours then overtime after that.
The railroad pays a lot of overtime. I love being in a union.
That's not why the railroad can't make money without government help is it? Or is that just Amtrak?
Companies legally have to pay overtime if you work over 40 hrs. They can limit you to 40 hours though. And if you are salary I don't think it applies.
Doesn't apply if you're salaried.
Also truckers are exempt from being paid overtime per the motor carrier exemption. Darn shame to cause they generally work 14 hours a day.
Not anymore. All the scientists recently became "exempt". :-(
Im a classified substitute for a school district..I get paid for as many shifts that I choose to take. It's a different schedule every week. So there isn't really any overtime pay..
Yep, time and a half and I'm allowed to do 5 OT hours a week if I want.
I voted yes, because I did for my whole career. With a few exceptions such as voluntarily working an alternative schedule, we got paid true time and a half for every minute over 8 hours in a shift or over 40 hours in a week (most federal government workers get paid overtime at a much lower rate). It was good money, but was not worth it, and in my experience, overtime never is.
1.5x regular pay, and they just avoid having me work overtime to get around that.
Yes but I am not allowed to work overtime so it doesn't matter!
Yes, over time is 2.5 times my regular pay, but we hardly ever get over time.
Words are hard eh Tony?
I don't get overtime, but I do get comp time for working over 40 hours a week.
Ha. No. I got paid the same amount no matter how many hours I worked, and I usually worked a lot of them, including weekends and most holidays. I was supposed to get comp time, but there really wasn't any way to take it.
But that's pretty much the life of a postdoc, in science anyway. Good thing I loved the job.
After 8 hours I get $41 OT.
Ya, but you'll get yelled at for going overtime.
Not sure if I get have the question
I'm self employed so not in theory but yes in practice.
Do you get have grammar
