Would you vote for a presidential candidate who occasionally smokes pot? Assume that the candidate is from your preferred political party.

It won't be an issue soon after the election. Dems will be in a strong position to legalize marijuana.

Yes. It's better than drinking IMO

In former life? Sure, no issue. While in office? Absolutely not.

I'm cool with it. Enjoy the sweet herb.

If it was legal than yes I would. However in most states, it is illegal. I've seen two comments comparing to a candidate who drinks. That is a bad comparison as alcohol is a legal substance. The better comparison would be would you vote for a candidate that occasionally drinks and drives.

I recognize the potential flaw in my analogy. Though I would point out that your is actually far more flawed.
Drunk driving is reckless and dangerous. Responsible, private consumption of marijuana is not.

That, and preferably a blowjob from one of his interns.

It's no worse than having a few cocktails from time to time.

I prefer the term clueless. We all know Bill has a history with the sticky icky and marijuana as well.

I'm okay with pot being legalized, but I don't want our president to be someone who uses it.

Are you okay with a president having an occasional alcoholic beverage?

Yes. But not with a president that smokes.

04/02/16 7:35 pm

Interesting. Why is that?

For the smoking- We now know that smoking is terrible for you. A president that isn't responsible enough to stop smoking probably isn't going to be a great leader. Back in the day when we didn't know smoking was bad for you I wouldn't have a problem with a president that smokes.

As for marijuana, I don't think it would be that big of a deal if it was legal nationwide. But still, a president that uses pot would most likely make the US looked down upon a little bit, just because alcohol consumption is generally more accepted that smoking weed.

Hmm. I understand where you are coming from, but none of those things would affect my vote at all.

A couple of my family members said they would never vote for the libertarian candidate Gary Johnson because he smokes pot. I personally don't see it as a big issue.
