And our stores are not dirty and disgusting like others are mentioning. They are super clean, organized and have the nicest people working there. They know every one by name.

I live in a very small town too. We only have Family Dollar, Dollar General and 7-11. I shop at the dollar stores out of convenience. It doesn't make sense to waste the gas running to town 25 minutes each way. Any money saved at Walmart is eaten up in gas.

Sign o'the times. When we get poorer, more of these stores open up because their customer base increases.

You can get small things there that are useful. Like aluminum foil! Costs about 3-5 bucks at walmart or wherever but costs a dollar for the same stuff at the dollar store. Little nicknacks and dishes, kids toys and other stuff.

I had to, because our Walmart ran out of Christmas ornament hooks, so I had to go to Family Dollar for them.

I live in a small town and I have been to Family Dollar just because it is all we have. Dollar Tree is much nicer and cleaner and everything is only a dollar.

Dollar stores in general stress me out. To much disorganization. It's the same reason I also avoid stores like Ross and TJMaxx.

We have a new Family Dollar in our area. Clean & pleasant, helpful staff. No comparison to the Dollar General which is unorganized, filthy & rude.

Any kind of dollar store. I like going to dollar stores because of all the stuff you find there. I'm not ashamed to say that I like things that cost a dollar(or 5 dollars depending on which dollar store you go to)

Haven't been in any of these Dollar 'themed' stores. They obviously have a large consumer base, 'cuz they're springin' up like weeds. I reckon I could find something of use, but dubious of quality.

Dollar general yes family dollar no. These stores are not the everything is a dollar store like dollar tree but rather a traditional dollar/cheap store. Handy when you run out of something and don't want to go to the bigger stores.

In Monongahela, we had a tiny Family Dollar store on the Main Street, but in around 1996 or 97, they moved to a bigger building across the street. Dollar General moved in to the old spot. So now, they have both in Mon City. On Main Street. It's quite sad.

great for Holloween. Reading glasses a dollar. Over $10 at Walgreen 's. Not a good place for snob to get caught though

Shop it when you're in Oregon and you won't pay sales tax. We went to San Francisco the dollar store became the $1.50 when we had to pay San Francisco sales-tax it was nearly the two dollar store
