A team of researchers claim to have confirmed the existence of a North American hominin hybrid species ("Bigfoot") through DNA sequencing of hair samples. You buy it?

@FIAT Yes, just like Harry Potter is real because of the "historical documents" of his existence.

people have seen "Bigfoot" or a similar creature all over the world since ancient times. I'm not saying Bigfoot exists but how could cultures with no contact with each other come up with the same creature?

Ah CDFL, always bashing "religion". Try reading 'The Case for Christ' by Lee Strobel. If you consider yourself an intelligent, critical thinker, then you owe it to yourself to read it.

I speculate that the Bigfoot story probably started with a gorilla escaping into the woods way back in the day. When people saw it and didn't know what it was, voíla, Bigfoot.

Lolololololol don't go there. There is sooooo much more Religious evidence than you think, and science is constantly finding more.

There's also researchers in North Korea who have found an ancient lair of a famous unicorn. Doesn't make it true because a scientist claims it. It's possible it's just normal hair with mutated DNA, due to something relatively simple.

@Janarus here's my issue. There have been so many hoaxes regarding the issue that until it's been peer reviewed and verified, I don't think it means anything yet. It's called skepticism.

They admit that in their claims. They say the results show a cross between a female hominid with a previously unknown male primate about 15000 years ago... I wanna see some real scientists get ahold of their work.

I'm not saying this research has any validity. But just because someone called it Bigfoot does not mean that it has no credibility.
Look at the facts.

Who ever first called this Bigfoot should be executed. That kind of thinking is dangerous and harms legitimate research.

Cross species mating is not impossible. But you people, the arch enemies of science and objective thinking, are too stupid to think for yourselves.

"Oh, some pinhead called it Bigfoot. Bigfoot=false. This research = false."

You people are not champions of science, you're pawns of public opinion.

You stupid mother fuckers. Just because some pinhead reporter added the word Bigfoot unordered to get publicity doesn't mean that it's Bigfoot. Historically homosapiens have fucked everything that stands on legs. We have ~2% neandertal DNA in us, and neandertals are not our direct ancestors.

It's hard to believe something exists if only the fanatics or people looking for one actually "find" a Bigfoot. When random people start find bigfoots, then it will become more likely for me to believe.

I do believe some people believe in something we have little to no evidence about. I believe it's called religion. If they have faith about something with no evidence, then I can have a little faith in something we do.

A scientist's perspective is, I hate to say it, but laughable. I respect the work they do and what they believe, but the whole concept of "I only believe in what can be proven" is absurd! They can't possibly believe we have the means to find every piece of evidence in the world.

People of Walmart... Look, all hominid species can be seen in a day...I swear Neanderthal walked past me on the way to the game case just yesterday. Oh, scientist determined all European decent folk carry those genes. Can there really be a Bigfoot? Avid hunters will say no, never seen evidence.
