Would it bother you if a friend paid money to Facebook to get his/her posts promoted to the top of your FB wall?

NPR had a show this week about people who spend more time on fb are usually compulsive eaters & spenders... It was a great piece. This whole question makes me sad for those people!

Like liberal posts aren't borderline offensive and bigot-like to anyone...

My friends should pay me directly and I'll promise to read their wall first.

If FB offered this it would be the last straw and I would close my account.

Yes, it would be all businesses doing it. None of my friends are going to pay so that I read what they say first.

No, I don't read them as it is.

I would imagine it would make more sense to pay money to have certain people's statuses show on top of YOUR News Feed, not the other way around.

They are the one's stupid enough to spend money for something like that. Anyway, Twitter is my thing. Haha. Facebook can tend to be obnoxious when it's full of teenage girls doing "Truth is"

If someone wants to waste their money on something so trivial, I don't have an issue with it.

I wouldn't mind it. It only takes a click of the button to remove that friend. What kind of loser pays money to have their posts seen anyways?

It's their money, I'll just ignore it like I usually do.

Good. He is pumping money into an American company. Good, he is putting money into the economy. Good, someone at Facebook is taking home a little more and then spending it at his local grocery store. Small business benefits, and it is a cycle. Bad economy is YOUR fault, not the presidents.

It would bother me because I go on Facebook to connect with all my friends, not just the ones who can afford to pay money to force more people to pay attention to them. I'd like to think none of my friends are that needy.

Some friends' opinions I care about more than others. I'm not particularly interested in one of my old college friend's promoted opinion showing at the top of my list or something. I like how it is now where I can select people I'm interested in getting status updates about.

Are you going to know that that person paid to promote their post? That's my first question.

You wouldn't be friends with someone because they promoted a post? Thank zombie Jesus I'm not your friend...

You aren't alone EB - hence the stock price tanking, MZ on the road trying to market his database to the Russians, and testing the waters with fees. I've been wrong before, but the whole FaceBook thing reminds me of Pet Rocks and Cabbage Patch Dolls, only sillier.

It would bother me IF I had a Facebook page. Facebook is a generically huge club I find myself less and less interested in being a member of. 1,000,000,000 strong and growing! I'll let the 1 of every 7 people on planet earth feed Zuckerbergs bank account.

No, Facebook just put out a limited release of this service to people in the US. It's in it's test phase to see if people want it or not. Then they will decide whether or not to go forward with it for everyone.

Am I the only one who sees that the author of this question was really referring to google's search results and how they put paying customers at the top? It's really not that hard to see the connection when you realize no one would pay Facebook so their friends could read their posts.
