Congratulations, polygamy is now legal. Not only that, but your SO says that it would be OK for you to get another spouse. Is there anyone in your current life that you would consider for spouse number two?
I would have to get spouse #1 first. And then no I would not get a second.
That's a bunch of crazy talk. One spouse is plenty. If I were married to two or more, I would be dead within a month. Suicide.
The missus and I have been looking for another gal provided she likes to cook/clean and meets our preferences for beauty/height/weight. 😏
I'd have to find a #1 husband first
I'd be on the lookout for a same sex partner, I think.
But if I can fuck all of my Wifes friends and the mixed girl that makes my coffee at the Starbucks up the block from my Office by dangling an engagement and false promise that they can become part of FATSHADOW's Harem....Im all about it.
Curious. Is it all about sex?
Im a Savage.
Would there be ANY other benefit to having multiple Wives??
Bc Mrs. Shadow is just shy of Perfect and I dont think I would want to be married to 2 of her.
Appreciate your honesty!
I'm completely for polygamy and stuff, but I personally wouldn't want to be in a relationship like that
I am not even considering a wife #1.
No. My husband and I stood before God and vowed to love each other. There isn't room for anyone else.
We've been married for 52 years. I hope you and Czar last that long or longer.
Congratulations, Grandma! I hope so, too. I hope you and your husband had a blessed Hanukkah. ❤️
YES, I agree, as well! We made that vow before God to be faithful ONLY to each other! We were both virgins when we married, have been married 38 years, and can’t even IMAGINE being with anyone else!
Besides that, it’s hard enough keeping one marriage alive and thriving. I don’t see how anyone in their right mind would WANT to try for more! Marriage is hard work! LOL
Btw, sorry I’m so late to this party! I was looking for a poll about polygamy that someone tagged me into that turned into a discussion about the eternity of hell when I found this one and couldn’t resist Ron’s question! Lol
I have the best husband, love him so much.. Anyone else would be a down grade.
I keep telling my husband that polygamy might sound good in theory, but that the reality of it would be less than ideal. . . much less.
I'm all for poly if that's you're thing but I'm personally a mono person. I wouldn't want more than one partner.
Who would want two wives??
Oh hell no! One is way to many!!!!
Why would I want to have two people pissed off and not speaking to me???
For God sake one is one too many.
The wife says I have to say no
Your wife sounds entirely unreasonable. 😂
Yes indeed...to both
I know, I'd trade her in, but have you seen the price tags on the newer models??!!! The wife may have some mileage and not want to turnover when I need to get started, but usually a quick jump takes care of that. A little maintenance and I hop to not have to shop for one again.
Never buy new, way too expensive...and ironically......high maintenance.
True, it used to just take a date night every 3000 miles or so and bring home fuel for the family.
Now you must talk to them. Sometimes even about their feelings!!! WTH. Then they want to know your feelings. Especially when the game is tied and your team has the ball with 15 seconds on the clock.
The warranties aren't as good as they used to be either.
Very true. About anything voids new warranties. Passing gas in front of her, though she will drop those silent stinky bombs that you are supposed to act like you don't notice, going out to fish for a day is a no go, though she will go to the mall day after day.
That's why broken in is better. They have realized that they aren't princesses anymore and their self-esteem is not connected to how much time and money you spend on them. Expectations are often so low that as long as you pay bills and make it home every few days without a communicable disease...that's enough.
One is hard enough.
No, no, and no. One husband is plenty. It's hard enough to negotiate living with one other person you love. I can't imagine it with multiples. Ack!
Nobody I'm considering for number 1 at the moment.. none of the people around me really suit me
Nah. What I have now is perfect. Why mess with that?
No because I don't have anyone I would even consider for spouse number one. 😁😭😜
1 wife is enough for me to keep up with.
No thanks. Aside from the religious and moral objections I'd have, I wouldn't want to add anyone to my marriage.
This is why prostitution should be legalized. This way they come in , in what ever numbers you desire, and when you're finished, they're paid and they leave in the same way they entered. End of story.
I have enough issues with number one spouse. I will wait until I grow two more ears and one less mouth to consider it.
Nope one left me, I'm a quick learner ; )
Heck no. I'm lucky I found one person I can tolerate living with, let alone two. LoL. Of course, I'm already in an open relationship and free to date others, so why would I bother anyway?
Cuck cuck cuck
No. No cuck dynamic here, though I have role played that dynamic in scenes before and I wouldn't hesitate to create a cuck dynamic with the right partner.
Yes, she is the wife of another man.
Does that mean to marry her I'd have to marry her husband too?
I would assume. I don't know the "rules". As this is a hypothetical situation, you make your own rules.
I believe so dx
I can't manage one let alone two! Besides, even if it's legal, it's against our faith so that wouldn't be happening.
What faith is it against?
I'm not aware of any bible verses that speak against polygamy, is this one of those instances of added Catholic rules?
Off the top of my head, the New Testament states that a teacher or deacon should be the husband of one wife. I believe there are other verses as well. I will look.
Debut 17:17 says that a king should have only one wife.
1 Corinthians 7:2
But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
That's the only thing I can find. All other verses relating to one wife are from a view of church leadership.
Dfish, added Catholic rules?
Yeah none of those are anti polygamy. The Corinthians one is clearly saying that to avoid sexual immorality people should get married, as opposed to not being married. It says nothing about limiting it to one spouse.
The Deuteronomy verse: many Deuteronomy rules are specifically for the Jews at the time, this one is even more specifically just for the king.
Yes Catholic leaders draw conclusions from verses that are not agreed upon by theologians outside of Catholicism. Ex: Onan spilling his seed being used as anti masturbation.
Well we don't exactly agree upon the Protestant interpretations either.
Dfish may be referring to a comment I made on another poll. The subject was on the matter of "mortal sins". I explained that Protestants don't abide by that theology and it isn't found in the bible. That comes from Catholic tradition. I think she was asking if this was another instance of Christians confusing tradition with what's actually found in the scriptures.
Am I right dfish?
Yes, that is exactly what I'm trying to get at
To answer your question dfish, I would say that since we can not find a verse forbidding it for the common man, I would say that it is a moral tradition (one that I agree with:). I don't know if I'd "blame" the Catholics though.
Why not, we get blamed for everything else! Lol. Being blamed for monogamy isn't so bad.
Well what do the Catholics say about monogamy/polygamy?
We don't do it.
Genesis 2:24 and Ephesians 5:31 point to man and woman and not multiples. However, while many faiths dismiss the OT as being fulfilled, we take many parts of it including this one. Hope that helps.
Both verses are clearly pro monogamy but still nothing that says polygamy is a sin or wrong
So if I can't find anything that says it's wrong then it must not be wrong? I'm not sure where you are going with this.
If God doesn't say it's a sin then why would I view it as such?
Well, God doesn't say that being a lesbian is a sin either. He just refers to men. So lesbians get a pass!
Sure. Any other examples of your inferred sins that aren't in the bible?
Ok I'm it sure if you just want to be difficult.
Dfish, the baptist denomination has lots. My parents are in their mid 70s and have never had alcohol. (Because they were raised to believe it's a sin). The school my kids go to will not sanction a prom because it's dancing (that's changing slowly, but many still feel it's wrong). Is cursing a sin? I don't know of any verses forbidding it, but I can count on one hand the number of times I have dropped the Fbomb. Many Christians believe that tattoos are a sin, if they are then it's a sin to eat pork, shrimp and lobster (all are forbidden in the Old Testament).
The fact is, that Christians are commanded by Jesus to do one thing. . .love. Love God above all else and love your neighbor as yourself. If we would only get this right, we would change ourselves and then the world.
Ronderman, have you thought about becoming a minister/pastor? You would probably give the most amazing sermons. This Catholic girl would love to hear what you have to say. ✝
I bet he'd be a good author too.
I agree, you should try your hand at writing. You have a way with words.
And I'm not trying to be rude MrsC, I just have a blunt way of talking sometimes.
Thanks for the examples Ronder, I have heard and encountered those schools of thought before. Some have better arguments than others. I am very interested in separating traditions from scriptures because sometimes traditions can become dangerous and distance people from the reality of the scriptures
At one time I did consider going into the ministry, but it wasn't what I feel God wanted for me. For now, you ladies get the benefit of any writing talent I may have.
Thank you for the affirmation. It's one of my love languages and I've never had someone compliment me for my writing. My daughter is trying her hand at a book now though.
That's wonderful, Ronderman. You do have a very nice way of expressing your thoughts, and I'm happy to hear that your talent was passed on to your daughter.
Blessings to you and your family this Christmas!!!!
Lol! I dont even if I want a spouse number one, so definitely no one for number two! There are multiple people id date though.
First off, I can barely keep up with one wife's requirements. Multiple wives sounds like a level of hell. So.....even if I was to consider this self-inflicted torture....the reality is that I would have to find someone compatible with Mrs. Squid. I honestly don't see that happening. So to answer your question....I have no one in mind.
Divorcing the wife, so I don't give a shit what she says
Not interested one woman is all I can handle. The thought of being outnumber even more by having several terrifies me. I can imagine the drama.
How can you judge it when you've never tried it? Lol
I think this is one of those times no matter what I say it's not going to turn out good for me. Therefore, I'm not going to say anything.
Lol I'm teasing. I could never do it. See above. I get my fix of sister wives on tlc so I'm good with one man!
Political, this may have been your first step to wisdom!😂
No...the first step was not supporting Bernie Sanders.
One is more than enough.
I think that's gross
I honestly cannot think of anyone.
None for me. The closest thing is a married couple we're friends with, and it would only be because we share a lot of meals already, so it'd be convenient. Living under one roof would save on gas.
I'm in the same boat. The problem is that the wife of that couple is CRAZY! There would be no benefits.
Crazy can be fun.
