Hypothetical: The second amendment is repealed. Do you leave the United States and move to a country where guns are legal?
People seem to have a misconception about Americans when it comes to topics like this. In the Syrian conflict many pro refugee people said if you were a refugee wouldn't you want someone to open their doors to you? However I don't see a mass exodus of America if a tyrannical government tried to oppress us. I see Americans like myself picking up the family rifle and going out to make America great again.
You mean people can't plant gardens or flowers anymore because the fucking deers will eat them? I guess you better not drive anymore because you might hit one, because they'll multiply. And if you're a survivalist, good luck.
My sister tried EVERYTHING and those suckers STILL eat her flowers. She threatened to shoot those fuckers next time she saw them and she hates guns lol
If you know any larger dogs spread some of their recently sheaded hair around. The cotton tail hear hate my German shepherds scent and won't come anywhere near the garden now.
So that means no more gun violence.... Because criminals obey the laws..
You mean AFTER I'm done dancing in the streets?
No. I could pick up Wayne Lapierre's pad for a song.
No , I become an outlaw
There is no reason the amend this part of the Constitution. Changing it would not necessarily make gun ownership illegal. Only idiots would make gun ownership illegal.
Just keep them and be quiet about it.
Presuming a law like this made it to the floor in congress, and assuming it passed the house. The immediate response would be every gun store in America selling out of all weapons and ammunition.
I plan on moving to England where guns are not a thing. I like that.
What country would that be? Afghanistan?
The right to private gun ownership is not guaranteed by law classic ignorant democrat
I always wondered why gun enthusiasts comment about the government wanting to take their guns because with the number of guns in the U.S. I don't see taking people's guns as a real possibility.
I'm not a gun enthusiast. I don't own one, I never will own one, and I'd prefer others not to own them. I agree - the US government will most likely never take away guns in this country.
As a gun enthusiast, I agree. However, I would not rule out some would be tyrant attempting. Even Obama and Hillary have expressed admiration for the Australian model with mandatory gun buy backs.
Joining the millions of others keeping our guns. If the authorities pushed the issue, there would be lots of push back...to say the least.
Yes, but not because guns are now banned (I assume this happened when the amendment was repealed) but because the whole point of the 2nd amendment was to protect us from tyrannical governments. The repeal of that amendment go my symbolizes the growth of tyranny. It is for that reason, I'm out.
We could still own guns. There just wouldn't be any state militia..
No need to move. I wouldn't leave compliance, compliance would leave me. Net change? Zip.
No, I would just keep my guns
Nope. I would stand my ground and keep my weapons, especially the ones they can't find.
I would just become an American outlaw.
If the question is asking, "Would you leave the US if private gun ownership is prohibited?" I might. It would take repealing the 2nd amendment to do that and I would not support that but I probably would not leave. I also do not believe there are very many who would support that.
If the question is asking, "Would you leave the US if gun ownership required having a permit that the government was required to issue, unless there is a valid reason to deny, in order to own firearms?" Then no, I would not leave and I would support that. I do not believe you would have to repeal the 2nd amendment to do that, so I am presuming that was not your question.
If you would leave under those circumstances, then I would ask, "Where are you going?" As far as I am aware, we are the only country that allows private gun ownership without a permit.
If the first amendment was repealed yes I'd leave. The second... I'd have some very strong words for the government but I wouldn't go out of my way to leave. I aknowledge everyone else's right to bare arms but I personally am not a fan of guns. I still won't stand in the way of people buying them because it is a right protected under the constitution.
I'd keep my guns.. it's not hard to get them from the black market.
No. I'd just break the law.
That is, if I could find them. I lost all my guns and their paperwork a while back.
It is more likely that Islam becomes our national religion than it is for our 2nd amendment to ever be repealed but the gun and ammo manufacturers thank you for the poll.
I agree it's incredibly unlikely.
Abolishing the 2nd amendment, while stupid, does not in and of itself make gun ownership illegal. The 10th amendment would appear to leave that power to the states. Also, many would argue it has already been infringed.
No, I would just break the law and keep them.
No. I just keep the guns illegally like the criminals do. It's easy.
No, I'm staying and joining the resistance.
Just learn how to hide them better.
Time to overthrow the government.
It's been that time for a while
Oh, children and their fantasies. So cute
>implying I'm a child
Let me remind you that guy that all revolutions are impossible until they start. Then they are inevitable.
Interesting how I am classified as a child yet also classified as a fighting aged male. Revolution is not an apple that falls when ripe. You must make it fall.
Precisely, Highlander. You're a wise man
Nope, I become a criminal and continue to own guns.
But they won't get my guns either
