I put money in my grandchildren's college education funds so that pushes up my Christmas spending a LOT. If you eliminate those gifts my overall spending was down considerably.

I don't know. So far $0. If I get a bonus check I'll be able to spend that but I have no idea what it will be if I get one. If not anything I spend will have to be taken from our food budget because we already borrow money each week just to survive

Probably about $500 total and a lot of effort since a lot of it is partly crafts. 😳 I really love Christmas 🎄

I cut way back from past years, but still am spending way too much. SO getting nothing. Cut out a bunch of friends and cut back on the number of gifts for nephews. Mostly because I have no ideas anymore and lack enthusiasm.

Does it count the gifts that I give to myself?

Well the kids I have been guardian for while their mom was deployed all 3 need winter boots so I'm guessing that I'll be spending more than I had anticipated.

I only give gifts during the holiday period. My joy comes from spending money for my family and friends

I don't give any gifts during the holiday period. My joy comes with spending time with family and friends.

We bought a new stove for Christmas. Ouch! I make most of my gifts, but not counting the stove, we spend about $500.

We had to do that one year... The oven died while we were cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

Oh no! I feel your pain! I haven't been able to bake a decent batch of cookies in my oven for years. Now that I am a grandma I am no longer comment with sub-par cookies! Also, the knobs have all broken and been glued, taped, or replaced, and for a while there I had to use pliers to turn on the oven. ENOUGH! Although a stove isn't a very romantic gift I can't complain. I bought myself a new sewing machine this year 😄

Same thing happened here one year. In the middle of baking Christmas cookies, the stove died. Went out that morning and bought another.

This year was higher than usual. I gifted my sons with tickets to the UFC match with Aldo vs McGregor to include airfare, hotel & a bit of gambling cash.

Probably about $500 each, but who keeps track? It would be higher if we include our anniversary, which is also the Solstice, and starts the holiday for us.

How many people do you buy presents for?

MissTake Dont Hate
12/16/15 3:15 pm

Well my father and I were shopping and bought presents for 5 people including ourselves, we kind of overdo Christmas in our family and so we get most of our nicer clothes and things then!

Haha nope, were definitely well off but moved to Miami where it is really common to live above your means and people are very materialistic... Maybe it's rubbing off on us

Closer to $250 if we were buying all the homemade parts outright. But a lot of it is from things that I or my dad/grandpa already had. I also found a bunch of my old like new stuff at my parents, including a tea set still in the box, that I am wrapping as gifts for my girls. So in reality, we spent around $100.

Money to spend on gifts?
I'm worried about money to spend on bills.
Each year the cost of living is rising so much I'm about to be priced out of my own country.
No gift buying this year.

Around $400. I had no intentions of spending that much, but it's the first year i could afford to get everyone gifts, so I got kinda excited and spent more than I estimated.

I included what we spent on ourselves. We only bought gifts for our friends' 4 & 5 year old daughters. We bought them each a $55 remote control car. The rest of the money, we spent on ourselves.

We got each of the kids a $200 tv (2), a refurb PS3 from GameStop, & $100 on a stack of games for it & that's it. A couple games on Steam for them but at my age, no gifts for us. Just the house. We need a washer. Wifi thermostat (for me :)

No gift for them I guess! Everyone I'm close enough with drinks so it doesn't really matter
