Have you ever seen a movie at the theater on Christmas?
Christmas Eve usually.
During our daughter's high school & college years it became a mini-tradition to find a movie we all wanted to see & we'd go - usually - on Christmas Eve, sometimes on Christmas Day. We had moved away from all extended family & we three enjoyed movies. We'd "saved up" a movie we were excited to see for the occasion; hearty meal at home first, early showing, crockpot meal waiting when we got home.
That sounds great! What an awesome tradition.
We've done the same thing for years too. I enjoy the tradition and it helped when we moved far from family to have this to make us feel closer.
To me, the holidays are a time to refocus on relationships & build memories. There are a lot of ways to do that. There aren't a lot of "wrong ways" to accomplish that if everyone's interests are incorporated somehow into your traditions together & refocusing priorities. Rejecting some older traditions in favor of building some new ones for the ppl practicing them just makes sense.
Never knew the theaters were open on Christmas
Really? Many movies debut on Christmas!
I have not, but that sounds like a fun idea... I might see what's playing this Christmas.
Nope. Every Christmas, I celebrate with my mother's side, and then I stay the night and help clean up.
