You've landed a really good job in your field making 2x what you make now. The night before you start, you find a package on your doorstep with newspaper articles about the last 4 people who held your job. All died mysteriously. Do you keep the job?

How mysteriously? My job can get me into some rather "interesting" situations where one screw up by someone could be very detrimental to my health.

Well I run the potential of being exposed to radiation, poison gas, idiot drivers, electrocution, being crushed by large equipment just to name a few on a daily basis, so I would still give it a shot.

I'd probably quit. But it depends on when and how they died. And also if they died on the job or not. I'm a security guard. It's not difficult to imagine some dying on the job. But I wouldn't take such a high-risk job anyway.

I always knew the GOP terrorists would start targeting environmental science researchers next 😉. It would make for an amusing story but it wouldn't affect my decision.

Considering my intended career path, it would have me giddy with excitement because it probably means I'll be part of something big.

A package, delivered to MY door with THAT newspaper article. Sounds like somebody is giving me a warning. I quit.

No! That's not a very good job if I'm only making twice that I do now.

That's why we get early retirement.

I would talk to the boss about it and try to get some more info. I'd probably quit anyway.

I'm keeping the job. This makes it more exciting.

Absolutely. Worst case scenario, I die. Most likely scenario, nothing happens and I have a well-paying job. Best case scenario, I find out what's going on, write a book about it, and make a boatload of money.

That's almost exactly what I would have said.

I work. I don't currently have a spouse or kids or other family relying on me, so why not.

As an accountant/auditor, I can imagine such a scenario...sometimes you don't want to "follow the money".

How long were they working before they died? If it was on the first day, I quit. If they were there for a while, my curiosity is going to get the best of me and I'm going to at least go in and see what it's all about before I decide.

Retirement is the most dangerous job of all! It has nearly a 100% mortality rate!
