Did (do) you take Spanish or French in High School?
I followed because you are on the recommended follow list. Congrats and welcome to SOH.
I'm taking German
Mandarin Chinese... So neither??? I wanted to go French but Chinese sounded more fun to me. I don't regret it.
In middle school I took Latin all three years and I LOVED it. Best language course ever. Plus latin looks sick on tattoos 😁😂
I took AP Spanish last year and I'm teaching myself french. :)
French, two years. I wished I'd have paid closer attention when I finally got to France and Luxembourg, and the part of Germany where I really could have used it.
I took both.
I got a"C" in English. 💩
German, do I chose French because it was closer.
French. And remember maybe two word of it!
Took both plus one year Latin...
Both. The equivalent of four years Spanish and three French.
Did you retain it in the long run?
I can't ever say I was fluent, just very proficient. But I've actually kept a lot of it. 😊 I could get by in a French/Spanish-speaking foreign country relatively easily, I think.
That's awesome! Most people I know that took a foreign language just lose it right after a year or so. So it's really cool that you still have hold of it!
Spanish - 3 years.
Tried to take French. they forced me into Spanish.
