Are you a germaphobe?
Yes I have to be. I have an autoimmune disease which makes me more susceptible to catching things. That and I ride public transit everyday with inconsiderate aholes that don't know how to cover their mouths when they cough and sneeze.
I'm germaphobic enough that I use a napkin to grab the salt shaker at a restaurant.
i saidyes because i consider my self "germ aware" not phobic.
I work with lots of people who come from countries without drinking water in their plumbing (if they have plumbing). The hygiene habits are awful!! HR actually has to teach these people how to use a bathroom!!!
And yet, they're so "smart" they work by the tens of thousands for Apple, Google, Facebook, etc. and drive expensive cars and have nice houses.
And that's why your kids won't get a job, car, or house.
I said yes but it's mostly in the winter that I go into hyperdrive combating those suckers.
I should be more of a germaphobe tbh
but I rarely get sick so💁🏼
Not at all. I think I'm reasonably sensible about germs, but I'm not the least bit obsessive about it.
We're too clean. Attempting to eliminate all germs just makes you have a weaker immune system.
That is true but mostly on the case of children, they need to be exposed so they can build a strong immune system.
No, my chemo makes me have a weak immune system.
But you're an exception, and.....I'm sorry to hear you are going through that. My mom had to go through it. Hope you recover and never have to deal with it again.
Only in public bathrooms. Women are serious pigs
Quite a surprise! 😳
In public bathrooms, yes.
No but I don't like sharing drinks
I'm a gemaphile
I taught elementary school for years and years. You can't be a teacher of little ones and be a germaphobe. Bodily fluids, boogers, dirt, and various germs come with the territory.
I have a theory that half the people who consider themselves germaphobes, had they never heard of the condition, would not be germaphobes
Our bodies are riddled with germs. You're welcome. 😉
I'm not a germaphobe, but I try to be sensible...
I'm probably a bit overcautious in public restrooms (not touching the door handle, etc.) and I'm not a big fan of buffets (e.g. salad bars at the grocery store), but other than that, I'm good.
I washed my hands other than in the shower in a couple days
Eww. Not even after wiping? Yuck
Now that's just irresponsible
I'm not a germaphobe, but I do worry about getting hepatitis from people that don't wash after pooping. No cure.
I eat food that falls on the ground and share food, do no I guess not
Depends. I don't really like sharing drinks or touching things after an unsanitary person.
Definitely a germophobe
How can you tell. They might look "sanitary" but they might have just wiped and not washed. Yuck
That's more rational, not really a fear of germs
When i can tell, is when i avoid it.
In an episode of Mythbusters they faked a nasal drip in the host and had a pretend party in which people interacted. At the end they used a blacklight to show where the liquid ended up. It was disgusting!
I saw that. Really eye opening. I don't touch my mouth, eyes or nose anymore unless I wash my hands. I don't get colds anymore.
Yep. When I taught I tried to keep my hands away from eyes, mouth, face. Nothing like a kinder picking his nose then wanting to hold your hand to get you to think about what you do with your hands. Ick.
Gotta build your immune system.
You did that when you were a baby putting shit in your mouth lol
Your immune system isn't fully develop at that age lol.
Yeah but it is once you're an adult
It still has to be constantly used, there are always new germs or different strains. Also our overly clean life style leads to a higher rate of auto-immune disorders.
That doesn't justify licking doorknobs
Did I ever say lick a doorknob? Just don't use hand sanitizers 24/7.
Chronic hand-washer here.
Nah, I'm a teacher and I've been in contact with every germ possible. I'm pretty much immune to everything now.
😃 Ok, well, maybe not everything!
I wish years of teaching had made me immune, alas, I got sick every year. Haven't taught in public schools in years...completely healthy.
I got sick the first several years, but haven't been sick in at least 10. What did you teach?
Oh, I see above that it was elementary school. Kudos to you. I couldn't do that!
Haha! A lot of people say that. What do/did you teach?
High school Spanish... In my opinion they are much easier! ☺
See, when a little kid does something totally stupid I can be patient & forgive them 'cause they're 5. When an 18 year old does something stupid I'm like...and you're allowed to vote? What the heck is wrong with you?! Although, I teach college kids & they're sometimes not much different than high schoolers. I prefer college kids to high school, though.
Sometimes that thought does cross my mind. ☺
I'm a really bad germaphobe
I have a healthy respect.
George Carlin did a great piece on this once, I absolutely agreed.
I' fine with Germans... Wait...
Not at all. Your immune system is just like your muscles, it needs to be trained to stay fit.
Exactly, it's also been shown that our overly clean lifestyle leads to higher rate of auto-immune disorders.
Absolutely not. As a results, I haven't been sick in almost 3 years.
My roommate in college religiously used hand sanitizer, vitamins, and cleaning products. Needless to say, he was sick all of the time. Germiphobia only hurts yourself. Build your immunity.!
I think a lot of it is in your head, too. If you're constantly so worried about getting sick, you're going to get sick. I've also found that hypochondria and germaphobia often go hand in hand.
