You are invited to live in an underground room for a year, part of a scientific experiment. No sunlight, no human contact but you have internet and are being fed whatever you want, caviar, champagne, you name it. Your old job isn't lost. You...

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal, and what we learn might get us one step closer to moving to Mars. If my wife will go along with it, I'll do it.

It also sounds like most of the plot of "Ascension".

Nope. At my age, a year without contact with family & friends, and without being able to go for walks outside, wouldn't be something I'd want.

If it's large enough for a workout area and lap pool. How much $$$

Maybe if you throw in 10 million bucks at the end of the year...

Am I getting paid? If I'm getting paid a good deal of money, I may. Otherwise, no.

Well, considering I used to spend 6 months a year underwater on submarines, this is a far better deal. But still....money has to be involved. It would take at least 750k to get me to do this.

In my industry so much changes in a year I'd be so behind. I also couldn't be away from my hubby for a whole year without contact. I would do it if I was single and it paid extremely well.

I think I could do it with proper compensation.

The only reason I decline is because I wouldn't spend that much time away from my husband. If it weren't for him, if definitely do it.

Decline unless there's some sort of compensation involved.

ONE underground room? So my dining room is my bathroom is my bedroom? And theres no million dollars involved? Hell no. Maybe I would do it if I got a million bucks and I had a gym and a basketball court and a sweet living room with a big a** TV that wasnt also my bathroom in my underground accommodations. The unlimited steak and craft beer would be cool though.

Taking part in a scientific experiment to determine the effects of prolonged isolation would be enough incentive for me.

Sounds like you would relish the opportunity. Hasn't this been done? Wouldn't solitary confinement be usable material.

Assume you get compensated with whatever you'd have earned at your job in a year. If a student, unemployed or retired, you'll get whatever you'd earn at minimum wage.

Questions: Do I have contact with a small group of people who also accepted this (scenario 1)? Or may I use skype/social media (scenario 2)? Or absolutely no human contact whatsoever (scenario 3)?
