If you could only listen to either rap or classical music for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

Rap, cuz when I'm driving at night, it keeps me awake. Also, I like pretending I can rap as well as Busta Rhymes

If these were my only choices, then I would change my answer on the question of whether I'd rather lose hearing or taste/smell (I picked the latter because I can't imagine a world without my favorite music).

Really glad that Classical is winning this one.

Some how I feel that the polls are not producing accurate results.

Rap but its hard because its always so ummm has a lot of "words" in it. If its Toby Mac then yes. With classical I might fall asleep while driving

Classical hands down. I love hard rock and heavy metal which is derived from classical.

Technically, rap isn't music. It lacks harmony and melody......and in the few cases where there is such, it is lifted or " sampled" from some other more talented artist.

Not music to you. But then again who the hell are you to decide what is and isn't music. Ahhhh opinions...just like...

Classical. The only rap I can listen to is Beastie Boys and Run DMC.

You aren't old enough to appreciate classical. Mature more then you see it.

Ugh, I hate rap! Classical is okay. I'm a smooth jazz lover myself, but if I were stuck between classical or rap, I'd choose classical.

Yep violin for 13 years and piano for 6 years. I'm almost 17. I can play classical music but I can't listen to it

Love Carmina! I've seen the DSO perform it several times with their choir, it's amazing. The ballet is beautiful too.

I can't stand classical music, even though I play classical violin and piano... I only listen to rap/hip-hop already

If it were country music as the rival, it would get a vote for hip hop .

Country ( other than patsy cline) is sad and depressing.

I listen to both regularly.

I would love to see Lil' Wayne and J.S. Bach do a gig together.

I like rap, but rap is really just one dimensional.. There's nothing to be discovered beyond the lyrics. There's so many elements of classical music that'll have you discovering something new about it every time you listen.

Rap is not music.
It can be ok - in small doses.
But clearly not music.

Also, I think that Nicki Minaj had a lot of potential a few years ago, but she got so full of herself. Now, instead of focusing on developing musically, she's just trying to hog the spotlight by doing American Idol etc.

Haha, yeah, I know what you mean but I just can't turn my back on local music!

To be clear, those artists like Talib Kweli, Common, etc. I just read further & Lil flip? I can't. Classical was the better choice

Hmmm. That's more like Hip Hop but I guess technically rap? If it included the artists you listed then I would choose "rap" but when I initially read the question the horror of a lifetime of Nicki Minaj flashed in my head & I quickly chose "classical"

Talib Kweli, Common, Dilated Peoples, Jay-Z, Dead Prez, Mobb Deep, N.E.R.D. (yeah I'm kinda old but it's still good music). Even older overplayed stuff like Busta Rhymes & Ludacris.
Also gotta represent Texas: Paul Wall, Lil Flip, Slim Thug, Bun B, Pimp C (rest in peace), everybody at Swisha House

Check out "Woman To Woman" by Joe Cocker and see the sample used for Cali Love. Nothing original there.

Who made beats for Tupac? Dre? He stole and sampled the Winston break for Straight Outta Compton! Winston break is probably the most sampled break ever. These fools these days use producer kits for their manufactured Pro Tools stuff. Can't stop a nicely compressed 808 kick!
