I would not want to go anywhere on a cruise where it's cold. But traveling to Alaska would be worth it.

I have made 2 caribbean cruises on cruise ships, and 8 cruises in the Navy to the same place, alot different on cruise ship compared a destroyer, same ports though.

Caribbean. Meh. Insects and sunburn and sand in your shorts. Give me the choice between sitting on a beach and exploring untamed nature, and I'll pick the wilderness every time.

Been on cruises to both areas. We preferred caribbean. The weather was better, and there was more to do. Alaska was raw beauty, glaciers were amazing, and we saw some wild animals and eagles, but the ports were rather boring and touristy.

This was my question. :) I chose Alaskan.

I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Alaska. :)

11/04/12 8:26 pm

Done both...definitely Alaska! Can't wait to go again!!

11/04/12 7:41 pm

Hey cowboy, don't knock it till you've tried it. Cruises are a lot of fun, and they give you a chance to visit multiple places/countries in a short period of time. And btw, that one boat is a BIG boat! You are not really stuck with anyone or their unruly kids. Try it some time. Bon voyage :)

11/04/12 7:36 pm

Caribbean for me, at least until I retire and have time for more diversity in my travels. Hubby and I are beach lovers and love the islands, especially St. Maarten. Already planning 2-week trip for 2013. We will try Alaska some day, but our next cruise will also be to the Caribbean in 2014.

I think I would hate a cruise. On one boat with a bunch of fat asses eating and drinking like pigs all day and night? Then dealing with their rude children that they're not watching? No thanks. I don't have to be trapped on a boat to see that.

11/04/12 2:31 pm

I like both, but I love Caribbean rum more.

I don't like being hot when it's humid.

Tops my favorite spot on the Oregon coast is ... all of it. But my most favorite place is Agate Beach. Except when it's blowing and snowing, I could be out there in the surf looking for pretty rocks from dawn to dusk, rain or shine. I hope the Tsunami debris doesn't spoil it too much.

11/04/12 10:14 am

Caribbean for sure. I'd much rather sip a Mai Tai in the sun in my board shorts, than watch a whale while shivering my @$$ off in a parka.

11/04/12 10:13 am

I've been on both. Ask ANYONE who has been on both and they will pick Alaska every time. There's not much to see in the Caribbean, just hot little islands that look all the same and impoverished locals. The beauty of Alaska is unmatched.

Who the shit want to go to Alaska

11/04/12 7:30 am

And by the way if you do the Alaskan inside passage spend the extra $ and take the helicopter tour over the glaciers (they land on it too). Coastal Helicopters is awesome. It's so worth it. You will see. Once in a lifetime experience.

11/04/12 7:28 am

So jealous. I would LOVE to do their cruisetour. Enjoy!

11/04/12 7:26 am

It really isn't that cold on the inside passage cruise. In fact-Juneau in the winter months on average is actually warmer than our single digit temps and ice storms in St. Louis.

11/04/12 7:22 am

I've done both. Been on an Alaskan twice, the second married my husband on a glacier in Juneau. Once you have seen beaches and palms they don't seem to vary much but the terrain and natural beauty of Alaska is unbelievable. Our wedding pics are the best I've ever seen. We want to retire there.

11/04/12 7:04 am

I lived in the Caribbean too and visited there several other times. I'd like to see Alaska now.

I went on an Alaskan cruise with my parents when I was 16. It was amazing. Something everyone should do once on their lifetime. Alaska is beautiful.

11/04/12 6:31 am

I'm from the Caribbean. I've seen enough. I've never been on a cruise but I would like to go on an Alaskan.

I have heard that the Alaska cruise is the most spectacular of all - especially for wildlife watchers. It's on my bucket list.

Gone on both; Alaska was better (only just)

I've spent enough time suffering in the cold in Minnesota. A nice warm caribbean cruise would be a nice change of pace. :) I'm just not a winter person. I don't tolerate cold very well. :(

11/03/12 11:57 pm

These are both awesome cruises and I highly suggest them both!

11/03/12 11:33 pm

I'd go to Alaska when it's warm, but is love to go Caribbean. I hate cold weather

Alaskan was so beautiful. I really don't like hot weather Alaska is very much like the Oregon coast I thoroughly enjoyed it.

11/03/12 8:58 pm

Any cruise is better than no cruise.

11/03/12 8:57 pm

Having been on both, Alaska is just the best. It's like a different world up there and no picture could ever capture its magnificence.

Whales. :) Carribean might be beautiful, but I don't do well in the heat, even in Georgia. And again, I'd love to see whales. :)

Been to Alaska and a cruise does not show the beauty of the state's interior.

Alaskan cruise in the summer

11/03/12 5:53 pm

I basically AM in the Caribbean so since a vacation should be different from what you see every day Alaska it would be.
