Damn. What's the term limit as to how long those asses are allowed to preside?

I don't trust the supreme court to do shiit that would be in OUR best interest.

Let us not forget the pubic hair on the Coke can.

Well, there is both citizens united and affordable care, bush v gore and sv1070, you decide which way it leans.

Not anymore. We the people are the last firewall. And I fear in the near future we will have to rise up again....

I've actually heard that comment before. "Reality has a liberal bias".

@nvr2L8
Yes, they have, but I'll admit it's far less frequently. Why? Because reality has a liberal bias. Look at past Supreme Court cases and rulings, look at all of the historic decisions in the direction of justice and a liberty. They were always in a liberal or progressive move for the time.

@nvr: i believe they jump around from time to time, yes

Just the liberal side is stuck in their ideology. Has a liberal judge ever voted with the conservative majority?

NYevo NY

It counterbalances the Prez and Congress who have such outside pressures

SCOTUS is beholden to the constitution before politics and the electorate so that the constitution guides their decision. This becomes possible by not making them campaign for election, or reelection. Lifetime appointments make for less outside pressure.

Just last week someone on here was ranting about Roberts. Now, he votes with the Liberals. Thats the beauty of being a Constitutionalist. You can apply your logic without bias, because its based on rules already set up.

We have a sexist & racist female on the court- & she was affirmed by congress- what a (bad) joke!

06/30/12 12:59 pm

Supreme Court impartial?? HAHAHAHA..I'm starting to, no wait, I REALLY believe that impartiality along with common sense is dead in this country...

You don't have to buy health insurance, but you do have to pay a small tax if you don't. I'm shocked at how simple Roberts was able to make it. Roberts, the conservative pick.

The ability to not be taxed anymore it just got expanded in a big way! Not just Healthcare the future is wide open for what we can and will be taxed on.

06/29/12 11:16 am

can someone explain what "freedom" they think they gave up because of the health care act? I know the standard political rhetoric, but since more than likely everyone on this app has insurance, what did you " lose"? I just want an honest answer from regular person.

The U.S. Supreme court is supposed to be impartial, but man is imperfect, so I do not trust them to be otherwise.

It doesn't matter. All I know is that mr. Obama lied about it. He said it would never be a tax!! When Obama lied; freedom died!!

But a nation divided cannot stand. We need to wake up and take our country back and return it to the land of the free. We need to stop giving up our freedom to the government because we are weak and afraid.

At one point we could trust the SC justices to do the right thing because they had honor & wanted what was best for America & it's people. But now just as everyone here has proved it's turned into a stupid party war! Seriously start thinking as Americans & not dems or reps. We all love our country.

At least they correctly ruled on the Affordable Care Act...!

06/29/12 7:57 am

I agree with tegs, Roberts voted correctly that the law doesn't provide for the law outside of the constitutional boundaries, but as far as bias... Kagan.... Enough said.

The judges nearly always vote along ideological lines. Look it up.

What happened to the federal system of government that our founders created? What happened to states rights?

06/29/12 5:43 am

Just curious has a liberal Supreme court Justice ever voted in a majority ruling with the conservatives?

06/29/12 5:26 am

Oh my goodness, cowboy freaking cracks me up.

Anyway, that's totally the issue right now. People are so "pissed" at Roberts for ruling the way he did, but he did his job. He may not like the law, but it is constitutional, and it's his job to determine that fairly and without bias.

Jms as others have said, if those who were against it weren't so obnoxious and certain about how it's definitely unconstitutional and they know better and everyone else is a retard because they disagree with them, then this wouldn't be happening. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Ok, seriously?? Can some of you grow up? You are carrying on like little punks who think they're 'all that'. It's ONE thing. Yeah, it's big but YOU had nothing to do with SCOTUS upholding. Most of us on the right aren't crying tonight. We're just that much more resolved. Palin? Jagger? RU listening?

kytoaltoky
06/28/12 8:52 pm

This is a CONSERVATIVE court. Just because the rulings didn't go exactly as conservatives wanted, doesn't mean they are liberal or 'activist' judges. Justice Roberts took a pragmatic view of the law: 'It's good for business.' Bad law? Maybe. Unconstitutional? Nope.

@RPG: so you're a constitutional scholar? You know more about the Constitution than a Justice who has dedicated their life to it? Thats pretty amazing

I was surprised that John Roberts voted that obamacare was constitutional. I figured he would vote conservatively like he normally does. That gives me hope that they're impartial, but I just think the government in general only looks out for themselves rather than its people.
