Inspired by JennaF: Without googling, do you know the difference between a motel and a hotel?
I'm thinking motels are designed primarily to accommodate motorists, and hotels are optimized for guests who more often arrive by public transport, or who may be longer-term residents. I like the term "motor lodge" for motels.
In a motel your door opens to the outside, in a hotel your door opens into a hallway
A motel is charged hourly and has an added charge for clean sheets right?
You act like I would know that....
I prefer hotels.
One looks like it is infested with all sorts of nasty bugs and germs while the other looks cleaner than a fiddle, but both are Nasty
If i am correct, a hotel has 3 or more floors.
Also hotels are bigger because they have connected rooms by a hallway
Motels have the doors outside so you can drive right up to your room hotels have the doors inside past the desk
Prostitutes vs no prostitutes
I can always count on you to keep it real
I live to serve
I travel frequently for work and have become a hotel snob. I like it clean and the amenities.
Motels are open hallways & Hotels have indoor hallways. That was the original difference... There are more expensive and less expensive versions of both, but most modern day Americans consider motels lower-class.
Actually my parents used to manage motel that's why I know the difference...😃
I was kidding. I guess you didn't like my comment below. Lol
I just disagree with your comment... Though I will say your assessment is correct when it comes to fleabag motels.
Also my parents motel running was in the 70s when many of them were more mainstream.
The one they managed actually had a full-service restaurant and nightclub.
I actually sang on stage at the age of 3 for the first time in that night club... It was an anniversary present for my parents.
Sure, although I'm not sure the definition is anything absolute. And the distinction isn't always as described below.
Motels as in motor - you have to drive your car to the room. Hotel you walk in through a lobby.
Very succinct CC.
Hotels are higher priced and offer great services: gyms, continental breakfast, dining rooms, etc. Motels are low priced, no frills rooms you can rent by the hour or the week.
Motels also offer continental breakfasts, at least some of the do.
Oh, good to know.
I only use motels and not hotels. And that's the difference.
Absolutely. Hotels are fancy and motels are where hookers and druggies go.
I do but won't give the answer until you say it's ok, kat.
Go for it :)
