You're in a department store and you're next in line. One of the cashiers just finished helping someone. Do you walk straight up or wait for them to call you over?

I used to work as a courtesy clerk and Ive seen cashiers finish up with someone and about to go on break when three more people jump into the line.
And I'm a rather passive person.

Exactly! I work retail and sometimes there are things I have to do after helping a customer (re-ticketing, sorting "go-backs", etc) and so I can't yet help the next person because I have something to do. The people who simply walk up drive me crazy.

I always wait. I figure they may have things to do before they can take another customer, or might even be going on break. It's usually just a few seconds (unless they go on break), so I figure why not be polite & wait for them.

The world needs more people like you Susan 😊. I love how you actually think about the person behind the counter and not just "I'm next! I'm in a hurry! Me, me, me!"
