A person is in a car accident and in bad condition. They need a kidney transplant and for whatever reason only yours will work. They are a complete stranger to you. If you refuse to donate are you a murderer?
No and I won't do it either.
Spin off: If you do donate and the body rejects the kidney, killing the person, are you a murderer?
Literally read My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult and it's the whole debate. Except it's not a complete stranger. Very good book btw.
If you don't donate money to the African children in the commercials, are you a murderer?
Just because you're responsible for a death doesn't make you a murderer. It's a very strong grey area but it's there.
Not wanting to undergo surgery to remove your kidney hardly makes you "responsible" for anything related to their death.
I'm not a murderer, just not as much as a humanitarian as I thought I'd be.
If my kidney is that rare I will keep them both in case one fails.
