In the USA, 397,122 children are in need of a permanent home. Worldwide, 17,900,000 kids are orphans & in need of adoption. Should pro-life folks focus their energy on helping living kids gain permanent homes instead of whining about murders?

Fair question. But without statistics on how many parents are waiting for adoptions it's kinda biased. A baby is WAY more likely to be adopted than an older child, and the earlier an adoption takes place the less likely a kid is to have issues.

Both are important issues.

Your numbers are SKEWED. The real numbers are much smaller.

Why not educate him on the real numbers.

We should always whine about murder and murderers. Dumb poll. Sorry.

I have heard something like if two or three families from each church adopted one child each, there would be no more orphans. That is a very very rough quote, but really puts into perspective that the issue can be handled and quite easily.

Nope, those who choose to have kids should take some responsibility.

"Today there are 102,000 children in foster care waiting to be adopted."

Where did you get your number?

There is no "instead of." Do both. And I bet they are doing both.

I can name many families that have adopted from home and abroad.

We are doing both.

Rond, is it expensive to adopt?

Very. I need to clarify. My family is not adopting. We have several friends that have. We have contributed financially to the adoptions.

Depending on where you adopt (what country) it can be in excess of 15-20k. Not including travel.

If adopting in the U.S., shouldn't it be a more user friendly and less expensive thing?

It should be, yes. Many choose foreign adoption due to parental rights laws in the US.

maybe they could do both? understand the other side. if you believed that abortion was murder, wouldn't you fight against it?

But then they would actually have to DO something instead of just pointing fingers.

Whether you agree with it or not, attempting to shut down abortion clinics (among other things) is doing something, whether you think it's a positive thing or a negative one.

Then let me rephrase that: they can control their actions instead of trying to control others'. In other words, they can mind their own business.

So could the people in Ferguson.

A Catholic nun I can't remember her name said that pro-lifers were really pro-birthers

How do you know they don't help already? I'm a pro-lifer. Right now, I'm only 17, so I don't have much money to donate, and I can't make any large changes, but I do volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Also "whining"? Regardless of whether you view abortion as murder or not, we do, so do you think the people in Ferguson were just whining and should have made better use of their efforts?

"Whining about murders"? Most genuinely believe that abortion is taking a life that should not be taken.
Are they myopic in my opinion? Yep.
Does what they say and what they do conflict, in my opinion? You betcha.

Would I like to see a lot more of the compassion they see in themselves? Uh-huh.
Could their energy be spent in a more productive manner in my opinion? oh hell yeah!
But, "whiners"?
