So I have a new job as a canvasser. I go door to door to register people to vote. Have you or would you ever do this as s job or volunteer?
Not for me but I would love to see more of that.
I would be hesitant to do it. If you knock on the wrong door you could get shot. BUT, that being said, our country needs young people that are willing to help expand the electorate.
I'm quite an introverted person so I would hate it.
I'm introverted as well and it makes it pretty tough.
I'm doing it for the state party. Signing up voters.
My SO did that during Obama's first campaign. He loved it, and got to travel to college campuses all around the country. Regardless of one's party affiliation, I thing getting people registered to vote is a very exciting and rewarding job!
I did it last summer as part of an internship with a political organization.
How did you like it?
I generally enjoyed it. I was a bit nervous at first, being a 17 year old girl with no familiarity of some of the neighborhoods I was in, but for the most part people were friendly when I told them why I was there. It was a good experience.
I did that once in college when I was volunteering for a local state politician's campaign. I don't think I could do it again, though. People will tolerate much more from a cute college kid than from a grown-ass adult.
It's sort of tough. People are so weird when you show up at their door. lol
I just wouldn't feel safe having a job like that
It gets a little sketchy sometimes. It's still pretty cool though.
