How are you more likely to act when pulled over by the police and you disagree with the reasoning? Say "yes/no sir," keeping your hands visible, tell them you're going to move before moving, and not arguing, or be defensive?

I'm always polite and respectful. There were times that I let them know they did something wrong, but I'm not rude about it.

From this poll it looks like Dems are most likely to die by cop.

Be calm, but say what you need to say. And if you're black, keep your registration on the passenger seat to avoid being killed.

I would be respectful but get my point across. I wouldn't do anything stupid to get arrested or shot. I've dealt with bad cops. My whole town is full of them. I know what I can and can't say to them. Wording and the way you say it means a lot.

Of course it's smart to respond with respect but lack of respect isn't a pass for the acts by some police officers that make the news on a near weekly basis.

I like to open the dialogue with, "I guess you couldnt tell through the tinted windows, but as you see I'm White."

Then we give each other the secret White guy handshake and we both go about our day.

If he is polite and professional I will be as well. If a cop is rude I'll be rude right back. Being a cop doesn't exempt you from common courtesy, and you can't expect people to treat you respectfully if you are being rude.

The thing about arguing with a cop is you can't win. So if you like to lose, talk some shit to a cop.

It happened to me recently. The policeman was rude (and wrong). I said things like "I'm sorry officer but that's not what happened". He asked for my license, and registration. Everything came back fine so he let me go with a warning.

Always be respectful. It doesn't matter if the police officer gives you an unwarranted ticket. That can always be fight and won in court.

I will anyways be respectful. But, then again, I am respectful to most people anyway.
