If you were forced to choose one of the 17 Republican Candidates for President, who would it be and why? Explain your choice in the comments.

Jeb: he has the resources, he was a con gov who shrank the state govt & taxes, he has gen'l election appeal, and he isn't batshit crazy like... I don't like his common core stance & his immigration policies are too lenient.
I'm QUITE open to others.

Rick Perry: successful 3 term governor of the 12th largest economy. Backed by the military. Eagle Scout. Right on states rights. Proposes to audit the fed and establish a flat tax

Probably Walker at this point. I concede that he's said some stupid things and he doesn't have my absolute, unqualified support, but he seems the most level-headed and I appreciate his actions against unions.

Trump. The damage he's cause would mean we wouldn't have to deal with this crap again for 50 years.

Good answer- I like it and agree although I admit I didn't think of it until I saw your comments. Lol.

Maybe Kasich? I haven't heard anything too bad about him. Whoever will evangelize their religion the least is a factor. Just don't paint the other side as evil or stupid and we'll probably be alright.

He is good except for his position on common core

Common core is a federalized education system k-12

Isn't common core coming from the states, not the federal gov't?

Originally it was a state program with federal "consultation". Obama made it a federal program with $$$$ strings. (Kinda like Medicaid expansion to comply with obamacare came with 4 years of federal funding). States that need $ comply.

Probably Graham. If nothing else, at least he's funny.

There are many I'd like to get the nomination (and get killed in the general), but none I could support for president.

Rand Paul if he would tone down his everything. Esp. Religious stuff. Libertarianism is legit though.
Speaking as a Florida resident, Jeb did a decent job as a moderate republican and so I wouldn't mind too much if he won the nomination.

Maybe Rand Paul, although he's a total fraud. Or maybe Donald Trump, it is like saying "we don't care anymore, we are getting a clown no matter what, let's at least get one that's funny."

I'll be voting for Rand in the primary. I'll then vote for Gary Johnson (L) in the election when Jeb buys the nomination.

Jeb Bush. He's not batshit crazy like 90% of his competitors. He's not an idealist, he's practical and is willing to compromise if it means getting things done.

My sentiments as well. Not being "batshit crazy" is fairly unique in this field of GOP candidates.
