Before his viral crime stoppers video, Lt. Clay Higgins gave this commencement address to graduating officers. Watch the first 3:30 (though the entire 17:25 is awesome!). Do you believe most police officers share his sentiments?
DKDC do not do links
jvc...must you be so grumpy? 😊
I wish they were all like him.
I believe most start that way & many believe they still are but they easily learn to be callous, disrespectful & egotistic.
Power too easily corrupts.
Usually the young LEOs are. As they mature, they realize acting the horse's hindquarters doesn't help any situation.
I knew a motorcycle cop that worked traffic & the downtown party district. He became very tainted but he learned it from the streets.
Being disrespected is particularly difficult for those with power.
That's why older cops have the wisdom and know when to show restraint and patience.
Maturity is important but they learn their disrespect for us the more time they take abuse from us.
All the cops seen on videos abusing people for minor traffic violations are examples of abuse of power.
It's callous to shoot somebody dead when they are running away from you.
Look up Sandra Bland.
She's dead after changing lanes without signaling.
Look up Walter E Scott
Dead. Shot 6 times in the back by a callous cop.
So, you support the cop that shot Mr Scott in the back?
Did you see the video?
There was no threat. Mr Scott was murdered.
Casper, I got to agree with Chi on this. I studied that case pretty deeply and in the video, you can actually see him pull out one taser barb out of his arm. Even if he hadn't fired his taser and simply had it, deadly force was still justified
because he had a weapon that could have debilitated him. He should be found not guilty. Sandra Bland popped off from the very beginning. He was even going to give her a warning. He asked her to put out the cigarette because it's standard procedure
Derek: he shot the guy 6 times in the back. He may get off but it was callous disrespect for life.
due to the safety of the officer. The rationale is that she could flick it in his face and overpower him while he's temporarily blinded.
I'm aware. Immediate following any shooting, if you were to asks the shooter how many times they fired. You'll get a guess. Adrenaline takes over and all you can do is see the threat is neutralized. That's when you stop. He was a threat. The threat
was neutralized. He quit firing once he went down. That's how the cop knew he neutralized the threat.
Sandra Bland was disrespectful like so many others but he escalated the situation.
The cop also has some history.
Did you see the video of the Round Rock taking down the drunk lady?
Let's be clear. I'm a supporter of law enforcement & hate the way they are being attracted for doing their jobs. I'm not saying ALL are bad.
Are there cops who abuse power? Yes, but they are rare. We only seem to know about them because of technology. You rarely see a video of a cop doing good, but it's far more a regular occurrence than the videos we see of them being ass hats.
Most blacks seem to conclude the cops are racists. I think they get callous dealing with the likes of Sandra Bland. If a cop pulled me over I'd say Yes Sir!
Now you're arguing a different point...
I'm curious, did anyone watch the whole thing besides me?
I watched about halfway through.
I watched 12 minutes.
I watched it all.
I did! What's that Constitution thing he talks about upholding? 😉
My wife and I watched until he complained about being underpaid.
I watched the entire speech. It is very good!
I watched it all
